Experienced caseworkers with strong accounting knowledge for an initiative to combat tax and economic crime

Become part of Special Control in the Tax Administration

The Special Control area combats organized, systematic, and complex tax-economic crime and works with a wide range of fraud types, including VAT and chain fraud, fictitious companies, and money laundering.

Our unit Special Control 8 is part of the Department of Tax-Economic Crime and Money Laundering 2, which currently counts 120 employees spread across six units. The department is led by an Under-Secretary of State and is one of three departments in the Special Control area. In our department, stakeholder management and collaboration are regarded as an important part of our task, and we believe that the best results are achieved collectively. We closely follow the development of new fraud trends, where data and analysis provide new and significant perspectives on our authority tasks.

In our unit we focus on areas where companies and private individuals attempt to commit tax-economic crime, and where there is often—but not always—an indication of punishable actions. Cases may concern both tax and VAT and duties. We solve our tasks in close cooperation with the units Special Control 9 in Fredensborg, Special Control 10 in Aarhus and the rest of Special Control as well as the remainder of the Tax Administration.

In addition, the unit handles the screening task for cases across Special Control with a view to assessing and prioritizing the control effort.

Complex audit cases focusing on tax-economic crime

As a caseworker in the unit you will have a case portfolio consisting of companies and private individuals who are particularly risk-laden with regard to various parameters within tax-economic crime.

Your tasks will include, among others

• initial investigations and planning of tax and duty controls, including collecting relevant material and information from available systems, as well as requesting material from citizens, companies and, for example, financial institutions
• review of large amounts of information, especially in the form of accounting material, bank statements in some cases and in others to arrive at a result based on fragments of information
• conduct of audit cases, ensuring correct settlement of taxes and duties
• preparation of proposals and decisions with accurate factual descriptions, references to law and numerical calculations of the evaded tax and VAT
• screening of potential audit cases in terms of reviewing data and information in the individual case complexes – including ensuring that the cases meet the criteria to be housed in Special Control

We provide a good introduction, and there are also good opportunities for further education.

Experienced caseworkers with a background in accounting or taxation

We envision that you have a relevant education, e.g., tax auditor, cand.merc. or cand.merc.jur. You may also have another accounting- or tax-related background, such as a professional bachelor in taxation, HD or diploma in taxation. Through your studies and professional experience you have gained competencies in areas such as taxation, VAT, duties, auditing and controls.

In addition, we expect that you

• work in a structured way and can follow the right tracks
• are results-oriented and can maintain an overview even when the amount of information is extensive and cases are complex
• have good collaboration and dialogue skills both externally in relation to cooperation with advisors and other public authorities as well as internally in the Tax Administration
• are curious, persistent and meticulous in solving tasks.

We expect to hold the first interview round in week 47. The second interview round we expect to hold on Friday, November 27, 2026. There will be a personality and logic test as part of the recruitment process.

You will be employed under collective agreements in accordance with the current state collective agreement for academics (AC), the collective agreement for administrative professionals, laboratory staff and IT employees (HK) or the collective agreement for officers etc. (DTS) in the Ministry of Taxation and Growth.
