About the job

Do you have extensive experience teaching in gastronomy education, and are you passionate about developing the gastronomy professionals of the future? And would you like to help strengthen the academic and pedagogical quality at a school with strong craft traditions? Then you might be our new subject teacher.

As a subject teacher at the Hotel- and Restaurant School, you will be part of our journey to raise gastronomy, everyday cooking and hospitality to new heights. We are creating a vocational college that, through stimulating learning frameworks and a high standard in our own practice, contributes to raising both the professional level and the students' well-being.

The team

You will become part of the gastronomy education's teaching team. We work closely together on teaching in basic and main apprenticeship programs and place emphasis on professional sparring, joint planning and development of the education.

Responsibilities and tasks

You must create practice-oriented and academically ambitious teaching where students and apprentices develop their craft, professional understanding and professional identity. You must be able to teach in both basic and main apprenticeship programs and actively contribute to the joint development of gastronomy education.

Your main tasks

  • Plan, conduct and evaluate teaching in the gastronomy education's basic and main apprenticeship programs.
  • Translate the education's academic goals into coherent, practice-oriented teaching sequences.
  • Create a clear structure, progression and differentiation for students and apprentices with different prerequisites.
  • Contribute to the development of local teaching plans, teaching materials, evaluations and exams.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues on the academic and pedagogical quality of teaching.
  • Support the coherence between school and apprenticeship through dialogue with work placements and the industry.

About you

We expect that you

  • Are trained in gastronomy, for example as a chef, and have solid, relevant professional experience from the industry.
  • Have extensive and documented experience with teaching in gastronomy education.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the structure, learning objectives and framework of gastronomy education for both basic and main apprenticeship programs.
  • Have strong pedagogical and didactic competences and work systematically with planning and evaluation.
  • Can create good classroom management, academic progression and inclusive learning environments.
  • Thrive in close team collaboration and take responsibility for the joint development of teaching.
  • Are curious about the development of gastronomy, including ingredients, sensory aspects and green gastronomy.

It is an advantage if you have completed the Diploma in Vocational Pedagogy (DEP) or an equivalent vocational educational qualification.

We offer you

An exciting and varied job at a school with gastronomy, hospitality, people and learning at the center. We offer an informal environment with engaged colleagues and a lunch program worth boasting about. We prioritize a good balance between work and private life. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the academic and pedagogical development of gastronomy education.

You can meet your future colleagues right here.

Employment terms

The position is full-time, 37 hours per week including lunch, with start as soon as possible. Working hours are typically in the period 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. For larger events, evening and weekend work may occur.

Hiring is governed by the Ministry of Education’s Regulation no. 101 of 1 February 2007 on terms of employment for civil service-like employees at institutions for vocational education and catering departments.

There is an 18% pension scheme attached to the position.
