About the job

Are you passionate about youth culture, communities and helping young people turn ideas into reality? We are seeking a responsible and proactive Culture Facilitator who can create vitality, direction and good frameworks in Esbjerg's youth culture house.

About the House

The House is located centrally in Esbjerg and is a creative gathering place where young people can express themselves, meet others and create activities across interests. The target group is primarily 18 - 35-year-olds, but everyone is welcome. The activities are developed in close collaboration with users, user groups and external partners.

The House includes, among other things, a large hall, cinema, café area, kitchen, offices and outdoor spaces. In the coming years, the outdoor areas will become part of a larger area renewal.

Esbjerg Municipality owns and operates ungekulturHuset within the framework applicable to municipal activities. To ensure users have influence, a User Council has been established, which acts as an advisor and sounding board for the Culture Facilitator and the municipality.

The House is a creative community where ideas can be developed, tested and turned into reality. As the Culture Facilitator, your most important task is to support, motivate and help young people realize their projects.

The House already has a number of regular users and communities that must be retained. At the same time, you will work to make the house attractive to even more young people and create room for new communities.

You will become part of the Culture & Project team in Esbjerg Municipality. You will be responsible for the daily operation of ungekulturHuset, the finances and the framework that enables activities in the house. At the same time, you will have access to professional sparring and administrative support from the municipality.

The position requires strong engagement, and you must be prepared to work outside normal working hours.

Your main tasks

  • Facilitate, motivate and support young people in developing and realizing their project ideas.
  • Lead the daily operations, financial management and coordination of activities.
  • Create a broadly inclusive house where different groups of young people feel welcome and receive space, responsibility and support.
  • Build partnerships and relationships with voluntary associations, cultural actors and other collaborators.
  • Ensure clear communication about the House's opportunities, activities and communities on relevant digital and physical platforms.
  • Collaborate with the House's User Council and the Culture & Project team in Esbjerg Municipality.

You have the professional competencies we need

Your education is not decisive. We value a strong practical profile and demonstrated experience in several of the following areas:

  • Project management from idea to implementation, including budget, schedule, coordination and follow-up with many stakeholders.
  • Facilitation, citizen- and user-involvement, where young people become active co-creators rather than mere participants or audience.
  • Youth culture and operation or development of cultural houses, cultural projects, events or volunteer-driven environments.
  • Recruitment, organization and leadership of volunteers as well as building sustainable communities.
  • Networking and partnership work across municipalities, foundations, business sector, voluntary sector and cultural actors.
  • Fundraising, grant applications and responsible financial administration.
  • Strategic and practical communication, including SoMe, posters, flyers, programs and other audience-tailored communication.
  • Iterative and innovative work processes where feedback is quickly translated into action and new formats are tested in practice.
  • Work in or close to a politically governed organization and understanding how to translate shared visions into concrete initiatives.
  • A practical approach and willingness to roll up your sleeves when settings, technology or activities must work in daily life.
  • Management and adjustment of sound and lighting in connection with concerts.

As a person

  • you are inclusive, community-oriented and good at listening and supporting
  • you have impact and can create forward momentum without taking over users' initiatives
  • you can work independently and make decisions, even when they are difficult
  • you communicate clearly and credibly with young people, colleagues and collaborators
  • you see diversity as a strength and thrive in a lively house with changing needs.

About the position

The position is organizationally anchored in Culture & Project, Esbjerg Municipality, where you will receive professional sparring and administrative support. The work follows the House's activities, and you must therefore be prepared for irregular working hours.

The employment is 37 hours per week and is a permanent position.
