Operations Technician for campus Emdrup – Aarhus University

We are seeking a trained property maintenance technician or an employee with another relevant crafts education and/or experience for the operation and maintenance of Aarhus University’s buildings on campus Emdrup.

You will become part of an operations department where we are in the process of developing our working methods and increasing collaboration on tasks. We therefore seek a colleague who can take responsibility for their own tasks and at the same time contribute to joint planning, knowledge sharing and follow-up in the operations team.

The work includes both planned operation and maintenance tasks and ad hoc issues that must be handled as they arise.

About the position

As an operations technician, you help ensure that buildings, installations and common areas function for students, staff and other users on campus.

You will have your own areas of responsibility and tasks, and you will also join a team where tasks are planned and solved collectively. It is therefore important that you share your knowledge, help your colleagues and contribute to the team having an overall view of ongoing tasks.

You do not need to be a specialist in all technical areas, but you must have a practical understanding of buildings and installations and be able to assess how a task should be handled. You contribute to good cooperation with colleagues and/or external tradespeople on task solutions.

You report to the operations and cleaning team leader. Your fixed workplace is campus Emdrup.

Who are we?

Arts Building Service handles the operation and maintenance of the buildings at the Faculty of Arts at Aarhus University. You will become part of the operations team in Emdrup and will also collaborate with colleagues in the operations department and the building administration in Aarhus. As a new colleague you will be part of both the daily task solving and the development of the team’s common ways of working.

In Emdrup we work on improving planning, collaboration and ongoing follow-up on operations tasks. Dalux FM is used for systematic registration and case management. Experience with Dalux FM is therefore an advantage, but not a requirement.

Your main tasks

Your tasks will include, among other things, to

• perform general operation and maintenance tasks on buildings, installations and fittings
• supervise buildings and installations and respond to faults and irregularities
• carry out minor repairs within your professional skills
• receive, assess and follow up on user inquiries
• register and document tasks in Dalux FM
• take responsibility for your own tasks and ensure they are followed through to completion
• collaborate with colleagues on tasks that require multiple disciplines or joint coordination
• order and coordinate tasks with external tradespeople and suppliers
• follow up on externally performed work and ensure the task is completed as agreed
• perform practical tasks related to rooms, fittings and common areas
• communicate with users about fault reports, planned works and specific operating conditions
• contribute to the development of common workflows and professional standards in the operations department.

Tasks vary in scope and nature. You must therefore be able to work in a planned and systematic manner, but also be prepared for the day's priorities to change due to urgent tasks.

We value that you

• are a trained property maintenance technician or have another relevant crafts education
• have practical experience with operation, maintenance and service of buildings
• have technical understanding and can acquaint yourself with the buildings’ installations and functions
• can assess which tasks you can solve yourself and when a colleague, tradesperson or specialist should be involved
• work independently and ensure that your tasks are completed
• can plan your work and keep an overview of several simultaneous tasks
• contribute to good cooperation and help find solutions together with your colleagues
• can give and receive professional sparring in a constructive way
• follow up on agreements and document your work
• meet users, colleagues and partners in a welcoming and professional manner
• have basic IT skills and are prepared to use Dalux FM and other digital tools
• communicate securely in Danish and be able to make yourself understood in English
• have a driving licence for a standard passenger car.

Experience with Dalux FM or a similar facility management system is an advantage, but not a requirement. Experience from an educational institution, property service, a housing association or another larger operating organization is also an advantage.

At the same time you will have the chance to contribute to the common workflows and professional standards that the operations department in Emdrup will continue to work with.

Employment terms

The position is 37 hours per week with start on January 4, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

The working hours are generally weekdays during daytime and scheduled taking into account the operations and the team’s tasks.

Salary and employment terms

Salary placement is in accordance with the Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and Public Employees' Organizations - The State Sector (OAO-S collective agreement) and the organizational agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and tradespeople in the state or organizational agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and Service Association/3F.

When hiring a tradesperson: You are employed as a tradesperson in salary group 1 according to §4 of the agreement.
