About the job

Are you also passionate about making a difference for placed children and young people? – then this might be just the right opportunity for you to become a placement consultant in Aarhus Municipality.

We have two vacancies as placement consultants to be filled on 1 December 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.

As a placement consultant you will take on a role where one day the pace can be high and fast, and on other days require deep engagement, where you familiarize yourself with the needs and challenges of the child/young person so you can make the right match. The children and young people we place in external placements often have complex challenges or have previously been placed in other types of services before a placement outside Aarhus Municipality. You will not be matching to family foster care.

You will solve tasks both independently and as part of a team and in close collaboration with the social workers, coordinators and managers.

For success in the position you must be able to navigate and create cohesion and dialogue in the around-the-clock area between authorities and providers. The consultant’s overall task is to help develop the close collaboration that ensures quality, continuity and stability for the child/young person through the placement.

Your tasks will be

  • to match children and youths with external placements in municipal, regional and private children and youth homes
  • to match primarily youths in cases with UKN (criminality and substance abuse), including to entirely or partially secured institutions
  • to match children and youths with functional impairments to both 24-hour facilities and support stays.
  • to oversee the execution of the placement together with the social worker and participate in admission and follow-up with the child/young person and the parents
  • to negotiate contracts and terms at the start of the placement and ongoing during the placement as needed
  • to collaborate with internal entities, including PPR, around-the-clock advisor, schools etc. so that the administrative and financial framework for the placement is secured

•

  • to take on the on-call duty for acute cases. This is shared among colleagues in the team and in close collaboration with both the joint emergency on-call and coordinators in the authority
  • to be a sparring partner for social workers, leaders and other stakeholders in the field
  • to handle the proactive, initial contact with external providers and maintain the existing partnerships

Not least there is a substantial task in negotiating contracts and terms and renegotiating contracts with the placement site when the support needs change. It is a central task for placement consultants to be able to negotiate with both regional and private offerings so that we always have the best possible solution at the right price.

It is desirable that you are familiar with and experienced in contract negotiations and that you are confident in speaking about economy and social work in the same sentence.

We expect that you

  • have a basic education as a social worker/educator/teacher and relevant continuing education.
  • have experience in providing guidance and supervision.
  • are familiar with placement of children and youths in foster families.
  • can convey pedagogical methods to support foster families.
  • have administrative flair and IT skills as well as good writing abilities.
  • are familiar with the Child’s Act and the professional collaboration surrounding a placed child.
  • have good collaboration skills and easily interact with many different partners
  • take responsibility for your own learning and can work independently and in a structured manner.
  • thrive in a daily life with many complex problems.
  • are challenging from your own perspective and curious about others, based on a mentalizing development perspective
  • have a driving license, as there is a lot of driving across the country
