Family First - a family-oriented initiative - seeking a new colleague

Familien Først is a holistic pedagogical effort, where the family’s overall situation is viewed and analyzed from different angles, and where, if necessary, work is done in teams with different competencies in close collaboration. We work with families who are in complex problem situations, or where children and young people are at risk of placement – or as an effort that reunites a family after a placement.

At the most basic level, an employee must understand that the intervention developed in the home is created together with the family, so child/young person/family, social worker and intervention staff have a common understanding of what needs to be worked on to keep the family together.

This requires a humble and egalitarian view of people, and it requires an understanding of cross-disciplinary systemic work, where we view the issue broadly, so schools, kindergartens, job centers, psychiatry, bank advisers, etc. are included in the solution together with the individual family.

You must be a trained pedagogue or have another social or health care education, preferably with an extra angle and experience in family intervention. It could be extra knowledge about the development of small children, kindergarten, school, after-school care (SFO) or other areas where you can enrich the overall effort with your perspective and special professional knowledge.

Familien Først is anchored in Family Interventions, which is part of an interdisciplinary unit under the administration for Children, Education and Health in Sønderborg Municipality. Family Interventions consists of three units – Family Counselor Team, Family Foster Care Counselor Team and Familien Først. We take our starting point in a systemic, mentalizing and neuro-affective approach to the family, and in working with children, young people and their families we focus on a credible, appreciative and resource-oriented approach, which can help to develop the family’s own coping and learning.

In Family Interventions we work closely with Children and Youth Interventions, social workers in the Authority Department, as well as the child’s, the young person’s and the family’s other professionals and private networks to create binding communities in which the child or the young person can participate and develop. The entire organization is based on a view of people marked by equality, dignified involvement and understanding that people can experience crises and have different life conditions.

Working hours will mainly be during daytime, but weekend and evening work can occur. The position is full-time. Start date 1 January 2027.
