About the job

In Kalundborg Municipality’s Centre for Children and Family Services, we are seeking an engaged family support worker for the Early Intervention Department for preventive work before a case is opened in the centre.

We are looking for a colleague who believes the best solutions are created together with children, young people, families and their networks. A colleague who is curious about people, strong in relationship work and motivated by working closely with families' everyday lives.

Who are we?

The Early Intervention team consists of 1 family support worker and 14 child and youth advisers who together work to ensure that children aged 0-18 and their families receive the right support as early as possible. You will be attached to the child and youth advisers in the Early Intervention Department.

We are focused on creating coherent and effective interventions around the child and family. Therefore we work based on relational capacity, involvement of the family’s network and close multidisciplinary collaboration with schools, kindergartens, health visiting services and other partners.

We work from a fundamental belief that families do the best they can, and that lasting changes are created through respectful collaboration, clear goals and shared responsibility.

Your tasks

The tasks of the family support worker are varied, and include, among other things, offering families concrete and practical guidance, for example to create and maintain a daily structure that will form a basis for predictability for the whole family and thereby secure stability. This may include guidance regarding morning routines, bedtimes and preparing the school bag. In addition, there will be tasks to support the child and youth advisers and other partners in their work with a focus on the children/young people’s well-being and development, for example by participating in collaboration meetings.

A part of the role will consist of facilitating and conducting group leadership in Parent Pilots – a manual-based group program in STIEN – Easily Accessible Treatment Offer, which falls under the Health Act. The program is targeted at parents of children who experience challenges with restlessness, attention and impulsivity. To equip you professionally for the task, you will from December begin a training program that qualifies you to run Parent Pilots .

As part of your duties you will also have access to ongoing psychological professional sparring with a psychologist trained in STIME in the municipality.

We work where the families are

With us, work does not primarily take place behind a desk. We meet families where their everyday life unfolds, and where the intervention provides the greatest value. Therefore your tasks may take place:

  • In the family's own home, in family houses, at the town hall, at schools and in kindergartens.

You should therefore thrive on a varied workday where meeting places change, and where you help plan and coordinate your own work.

The position entails a high degree of independence.

Therefore we are looking for a colleague who

  • Can plan their own work and create structure and an overview in a complex daily life.
  • Takes responsibility for their own tasks and processes and is flexible and solution-oriented.
  • Thrives with a high degree of influence on the planning of their workday.
  • Also sees the value in professional sparring and joint task solving.

We are looking for someone who

  • Is educated as a pedagogue, teacher, social worker/social facilitator, or has another relevant social science education, and has a relevant therapeutic further education.
  • Has experience with children, young people and families and can collaborate across professional disciplines.
  • Has strong relational skills and is curious, reflective and development-oriented.
  • Has an eye for both resources and challenges.
  • Can express themselves precisely both orally and in writing.

It would be an advantage if you have experience with network-inclusive and systemic working methods, but it is not a requirement.

Why choose us

  • A workplace with high professionalism and a strong collegial community.
  • A culture characterized by trust, responsibility and collaboration.
  • A high degree of flexibility and influence over own task planning.
  • Opportunity to help develop future early interventions for children and families.
  • Focus on relational capacity, involvement and holistic solutions.
  • Additionally, we offer a free health scheme and a four-day flexible work week.

Salary and employment terms

As a starting point, the salary is 41,890.13 per month + pension.

There will be an opportunity to negotiate the salary based on experience and qualifications.

If you have any questions about the position, you can contact family counsellor Pia Søholm at 20 42 93 71 or departmental manager Rikke Press at 21 39 04 73.
