FIRE & RESCUE MIDTVEST SEEKS INCIDENT COMMANDER FOR FIRE IN THE WEST AREA

To strengthen the resilience of our incident commander preparedness, Brand & Rescue MidtVest is seeking a trained Incident Commander Brand for the West area, covering Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality.

If you are trained as a Team Leader Brand and ready to take the next step in your emergency management development, we would also very much like to hear from you. We offer the opportunity to complete the incident commander training as part of your attachment to the emergency services.

AN IMPORTANT ROLE WHEN IT COMES TO IT

As an incident commander you will have a central and responsible role in our operational readiness.

You will be responsible for the technical and tactical leadership of the response at the incident site, where you must be able to create an overview, make decisions and ensure an effective and safe task execution.

Your tasks include, among other things

• Technical and tactical leadership of operations at the incident site.
• Leadership, dispatching and call-out of your own units.
• Cross-sector collaboration with incident commanders from Police and Health Emergency Services.
• Participation in evaluation, knowledge sharing and development of our operational readiness.
• Maintenance and development of your operational and leadership competencies.

As an incident commander you must be able to stay calm when others need direction. You must be able to make decisions under pressure, communicate clearly and build trust among the people you work with.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION

We primarily seek a trained Incident Commander Brand who can document completed incident commander training and any maintenance through function-based continuing education.

ARE YOU TRAINED AS TEAM LEADER BRAND?

Then you also have the opportunity to apply for the position and complete the training to become Incident Commander Brand.

The training will be conducted as residential courses at the Emergency Services Agency in Tinglev in 2027:

• Incident Commander, emergency management portion: Weeks 7–8 and 10–11.
• Incident Commander, cross-disciplinary portion: Weeks 21 and 23–24.

You must be able to dedicate time to participate in the entire training program. The training is paid according to the applicable collective agreement and local agreement.

Brand & Rescue MidtVest also provides local introduction, training and upskilling so you are well prepared to join the incident commander on-call duty.

ONGOING COMPETENCE DEVELOPMENT

To ensure a high professional standard, you are expected to participate in

• Minimum 48 hours of local continuing education annually, corresponding to six days.
• Any supplementary exercises and necessary meeting activities.
• Central continuing education in Tinglev every three years, currently a three-day residential course.

ON-CALL AREA AND ON-CALL SYSTEM

Your primary on-call area will be Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipality.

The incident commander on-call duty is covered as standby from home, the workplace or a self-chosen residence.

During the on-call period you should primarily remain within the Ringkøbing, Videbæk and Skjern area so you can perform the incident commander function within the required operational parameters.

The on-call arrangement is generally organized with a duty every four weeks.

There are good opportunities to swap on-call shifts with other incident commanders so the on-call arrangement can be adapted to a life with both work and private life.

Shifts are arranged as weekly on-call shifts, which you are initially expected to cover. If you have a different primary employer, this must be aware of your obligations as incident commander.

The position is an honorary paid role and not a full-time position.

ABOUT BRAND & REDNING MIDTVEST

Brand & Rescue MidtVest is a joint municipal owned Paragraph 60 company. That means a joint municipal company pursuant to the Danish Local Government Act § 60.

The joint emergency services operates within the current framework of the emergency services act and is owned by Ikast-Brande, Herning and Ringkøbing-Skjern Municipalities in partnership. The company was established effective 1 January 2016.

As an employee of Brand & Rescue MidtVest you will be part of an organization with 30 full-time staff and approximately 310 part-time staff and volunteers spread across 15 stations in the three owner municipalities.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS

The position is honorary paid according to Agreement for Emergency Personnel in Chief and Leadership Positions (DOBL/KL 33.03) .

In addition, there is a local agreement for incident commanders at Brand & Rescue MidtVest. The local agreement will be forwarded to applicants invited to an interview.

It is a condition of employment that you can present a clean criminal record and hold a valid driving license for at least category B. The requirements must be met throughout the entire employment.
