Preventive social worker for “SKODA”

Video - Center Leader Henriette Hylgaard

Do you want to be close to children, young people and the adults around them?

Would you like to use your social work professional skills in a way that brings you close to everyday life and where your most important task is not to find faults, but to be curious about what can make a difference?

Then it might be you we are looking for.

We are seeking a social worker for Team SKODA – School and Daycare Advisors in Kolding Municipality .

SKODA is part of Family and Prevention in Family Center Daycare.

We are a department with two teams – SKODA and Family Guides – which have different tasks and professionalities, but share a common starting point:

We believe it makes a difference when we get involved early, are close to everyday life and, together with children, young people, families and the professionals around them, explore what can help.

We are still finding our common form as a newly established department. We are getting to know each other, leveraging each other’s professionalities and having a common language for the preventive work.

In SKODA we are 11 social workers who have our presence on schools and in day care centers.

We work closely with children, young people, parents, teachers, educators and leaders. Sometimes it is a concrete worry that brings us into a task. Other times it is professional sparring, a conversation with a child or a young person, or a wish from the adults around the child to see a situation from another angle.

We believe that a lot can succeed when we come in early. Therefore we focus on understanding what lies behind what we see .

In SKODA we work independently, but we never work alone. We work as a multidisciplinary team out in the world and we use each other internally for sparring and believe that our professionalism becomes stronger when we dare to bring different perspectives into play. This also applies across Family and Prevention.

Family Guides work with advice and guidance to children, young people and families, while SKODA has its base close to schools and day cares . The tasks are different, but there is a natural overlap in our view of children, young people and families.

Therefore you should want to be part of a department where we do not only take care of our own team , but also are curious about what we can do together.

As a SKODA advisor you will have a daily life where the tasks can look very different.

You can, among other things, come to

  • have conversations with children, young people and parents
  • give advice and guidance
  • participate in interprofessional sparring with teachers, educators and leaders
  • be involved in understanding what lies behind a concern for a child
  • help the adults around the child to spot new courses of action
  • facilitate meetings and collaboration around children and young people
  • offer open guidance pursuant to the Children's Act §28
  • refer to and occasionally offer advice and guidance under the Children's Act §30
  • participate in difficult conversations with children and parents
  • initiate Family Conferences
  • carry out screenings under the Children's Act §18.

You will have a high degree of autonomy in your work, and you must be able to move between different perspectives and tasks.

In Family Center Day we work with the starting point in Citizen's Center as the basis for Kolding Municipality's vision Self-worth and Cohesion and our shared Children and Youth Perspective .

You should be able to be a social worker without always wearing the authority hat.

For us it is important that we do not rush to explain children’s and young people's difficulties with diagnoses or specific categories. We are focused on the child and the young person’s own voice, development, relationships and everyday life.

We move close to the pedagogical world and are curious about what happens in the child’s or the young person’s surroundings. Sometimes the most important opportunity for change is not inside the child. It lies in what we adults around the child can do differently.

That also means you must be able to stand firmly on your professional basis as a social worker, while being curious about the other professionalities you meet.

We imagine that you

  • are educated as a social worker or social mediator
  • want to work preventively and close to practice
  • are curious about children, young people and their development
  • quickly can build trusting relationships with both children, parents and professionals
  • can stand strong on your professionalism and at the same time be curious about others' perspectives
  • thrive in a daily life where no two days necessarily look the same
  • can work independently, but know when it makes sense to reach out for sparring
  • want to be part of both a strong SKODA team and a department that is in the process of creating something together.

You can expect a leader who believes that clear frameworks and professional freedom can go hand in hand.

I am focused on us knowing what our task is, and at the same time having the courage to be curious whether we can do things even better.

For me it is not essential that you can do everything from day one. The most important thing for me is that you have the right professional approach and the ability to establish quick and good contact, while also being eager to learn, be curious and help make a difference.

You can expect professional sparring, the possibility for guidance and colleagues who want to help each other. You can also expect a working life where we take the task seriously, but where we also believe that we should enjoy being together and therefore we celebrate our togetherness in the team and the department.

There must be room for professionalism, diversity, humor and being human.

Perhaps it is you we are missing?

If you can see yourself in a job where you come close to practice, get the opportunity to use your social work expertise in many different ways and become part of a team and a department that want to achieve something together, then we would very much like to hear from you.

You are also very welcome to contact us if you are curious about SKODA, Family and Prevention or simply want to know a little more about what a day with us looks like.
