About the job

Association Consultant at DGI Nordjylland and Hjørring Municipality Are you ready to strengthen the interaction with associations? Can you develop leisure and association life with local inherent potential? And above all, are you motivated by working with volunteers, as well as project and process work?

We are looking for a new association consultant who will help create new opportunities for a diverse association life in Hjørring Municipality. An association consultant who understands how to switch between being close to volunteer associations, facilitating cooperation between associations and municipal institutions, and at the same time be part of DGI Nordjylland.

Detailed job posting The position as association consultant is driven by a strong desire to support the development and daily life in voluntary association life, where many enthusiasts and association people are passionate about making a difference for the very association they belong to.

The voluntary association life is one of the strengths of Hjørring Municipality. Therefore there is a wish to “help along the way” when even veteran enthusiasts or new ideas need a little help to get off the ground.

The position is a part-time position between Hjørring Municipality and DGI Nordjylland. This means that one day a week you will have your workplace at DGI Nordjylland in Aalborg, while the rest of the time you are part of Leisure, Digitisation and Data in the Children and Employment Administration of Hjørring Municipality.

It should therefore be natural for you to be able to navigate in different organizations, where the common denominator is the ambition to make a difference for, with and in the association life.

Association consultant as a link to the association life One of the tasks as an association consultant will be to drive and manage the municipality's targeted efforts in the leisure area, as well as to integrate and facilitate initiatives to benefit the association life across Hjørring Municipality and DGI Nordjylland.

The association consultant must be the one who can work broadly with association participation – from ensuring that all children have the opportunity to be part of a leisure community to initiating sparring with the associations about how we create activities with a focus on healthy aging for the growing senior demographic in Hjørring Municipality. At the same time, the association consultant must also carry out their own association development programs regarding the challenges and wishes that association boards may experience, e.g., when working with volunteering, organizing associations, etc.

The association consultant must also be the one who can create connections between the association life and the municipal welfare tasks. The many varied tasks that can land on the association consultant’s desk strongly call for a profile that can create the links that contribute to realizing DGI’s ambitions and strategic priorities in close collaboration with the local leisure and association life in Hjørring Municipality.

The association consultant's main tasks The central focus is the development of the associations in interaction with the municipality and DGI Nordjylland. Your tasks will therefore span a wide range, and we expect you to solve them with a high degree of independence and drive. The tasks are expected to include, among others, the following activities;

  • Support and development of the association life in relation to concrete ideas and opportunities, as well as inspire and co-develop new initiatives and collaborations with the association life.
  • “Hands on” support and facilitation of development in associations and cooperation between associations.
  • Braining and collaboration with DGI Nordjylland’s other association consultants, sports consultants and focus areas.
  • Participation in and facilitation of cooperation between the municipality and associations

Tasks to be solved as an outreach association consultant, who finds energy in to;

  • Advise and support the associations in their development through participation in meetings, development programs and similar.
  • Make the association life visible and develop it, including planning and conducting theme meetings with associations, facilities and institutions.
  • Think into and be co-developer of projects for the municipality that support development and cooperation relations within the area.
  • Support close cooperation between associations, facilities and other local community actors.

We have high expectations of you, and especially that you possess competencies where you;

  • have in-depth knowledge of association work and the public education association life, including e.g. work on a voluntary board
  • have solid experience in and with working with volunteers. The volunteers are the cornerstone of the public educational association life and will thus be a natural part of your external collaboration interface
  • naturally build new relationships - both in collaboration with volunteers, as well as internal and external partners in both DGI and Hjørring Municipality.
  • have the desire and perhaps even experience in working across professional boundaries in a municipal context, including for example collaboration with the school and day care areas
  • have experience with project and process management as well as network facilitation, including being able to stand on stage, create flow in processes and convey messages clearly.
  • excel in oral and written communication so that your partners feel heard and included.

… and you may also have high expectations of us! We are ambitious and go to lengths to ensure that associations, citizens and collaboration partners see us as credible and imaginative playing partners in the development of the municipality. Involving citizens and collaboration partners, volunteers as well as professionals, is at the forefront, regardless of which task we face.

You will thus be part of a strong professional environment where there is plenty of opportunity for sparring and collaboration. We place a high value on cross-cutting collaborations and projects.

You should be comfortable with a varied daily life, where working hours and tasks are agreed in collaboration with the associations and collaboration partners that are essential for you to succeed as an association consultant. There will be weekly evening work, and weekend work may also occur in the position.

In return, you get ample opportunity for influence and the possibility to create your own working life with good sparring and camaraderie from a collection of informal and good-humored colleagues at a flexible workplace.
