Foster family(s) for two siblings

The Copenhagen Foster Care is seeking one or two foster families for two siblings, a girl in primary school age and a boy in preschool age.

The boy in preschool age is described as a charming, curious and loving boy, both in interaction with adults and other children. He enjoys music and singing. He can be quiet and withdrawn from time to time, and he may need support to maintain attention in activities. He benefits from clear structure, calmness and close adult contact. The boy's development is not age-appropriate, but with developmental potential. He is nonverbal, but communicates with sounds, gestures and eye contact. He benefits from visual guidance and pictograms in his communication.

The girl in primary school age is described as happy, socially interested and well-liked among peers. She may need support in social relationships. She benefits from support for emotional regulation as well as guidance from adults with a caring and mentalizing approach. The girl attends a regular public school. She enjoys music and dancing.

Both children need a stable caregiving environment with emotionally available adults, recognizability, adult guidance and structure in daily life.

We are looking for one or two families and are interested in hearing from you if you have space for one or both children with you.

About you

• You are a generally approved, reinforced or specialized foster family.
• You can live anywhere in the country.
• You have good collaboration skills and are open to parental cooperation.
• You are willing to drive to and from visits.
• You can work on the development of emotional regulation.
• You have knowledge of neglect.
• With regard to the boy, you have knowledge of disability and can work on the development of gross and fine motor skills. With regard to the boy, you can also work in a caring and persistent way with the development of self-reliance.

You are not alone with the task, as we provide you with pedagogical supervision from a fixed attached foster care consultant whom you have regular contact with.
