Fostering family for a 7-year-old boy

Herning Municipality is seeking a caring and stable foster family for a 7-year-old boy. The respite care is granted under §84 in accordance with the Children's Act §90 and will, as a rule, be every 3rd weekend from Friday to Sunday.

We are looking for a family who can offer calm, safe and predictable surroundings, and who want to make a positive difference in a child's life.

You/You can either be

• Approved foster family.
• Or a family/partner/individual who has the capacity, commitment and desire to make a difference for a child and is willing to undergo the municipality's approval process as a support family.

It would be advantageous if there are no younger children in the home, as the boy benefits best from calm and manageable surroundings.

We envision a family that

• Is patient, calm and emotionally resilient.
• Can create structure, predictability and secure surroundings.
• Meets children in an acknowledging, caring way and with understanding of individual needs.
• Can adapt activities, tempo and expectations to the child’s daily form.
• Has an eye for the importance of pauses, calm and recognizable routines.
• Is good at preparing transitions and new situations.
• Can remain calm and create security in situations where the child is challenged.
• Desires a close and constructive collaboration with the child's parents and relevant professionals.
• Preferably has experience with children with special needs, but this is not a requirement.

The boy is a caring and considerate boy with many good thoughts and intentions. He thrives best in a daily life with structure, recognizability and clear adults. He has good friendships and benefits from familiar surroundings and predictability. When he feels safe, he shows great care for others and engages positively in relationships.

The purpose of the respite is to give the boy the opportunity for positive experiences, new relationships and safe communities, while the family gains the necessary respite and support in everyday life.
