From studies to cybersecurity in practice – become a student assistant at Unit IT’s Cyber Defence Center

Location: Middelfart, Ballerup or Aarhus

Working hours: About 10 hours per week

Interested in cyber security, and want to test your knowledge outside the classroom? As a student assistant in Unit IT’s Cyber Defence Center (CDC) you gain practical experience with investigating security alerts and handling security incidents – and an insight into how cyber security works in practice.

You will become part of the daily security monitoring and contribute to investigating alerts, detecting possible threats and following up on security incidents. Here you will have the opportunity to use your professional curiosity on concrete tasks alongside your studies.

This is what you will work with

• Keep an eye on security alerts and investigate what lies behind them
• Perform an initial assessment of security incidents, prioritize them and forward to relevant specialists
• Document your analyses and the incidents you work with
• Follow up on known alerts and procedures
• Keep documentation and playbooks up to date - they are the guidelines for how security incidents are handled
• Collect data and solve lighter analysis tasks
• Help with other tasks in the Cyber Defence Center

Who are you?

You are pursuing a higher education, e.g., within IT, computer science, software or cyber security, and want to work with IT security in practice. Perhaps you have explored the area through teaching, study projects or personal projects. You are curious about how systems and networks work, take a structured approach to tasks and enjoy examining details. You also want to collaborate, ask questions and share what you find.

You get more than theory: practical experience with security monitoring, knowledge of modern cybersecurity tools and insight into how security incidents are handled – also called incident response. It gives you concrete experiences to build on in your studies and your future career in cyber security.
