About the job
Would you like to sit at the table when some of the police's largest and most important development projects need to be steered and prioritized? And are you motivated by translating complex financial issues into clear decision bases for projects and management?
The Danish National Police's Center for IT and Project Economics is seeking analytical and process-strong generalists who will contribute to process and financial management of the police's largest development projects.
Here you will have the opportunity to work closely with decisions that have great significance for the police's development. For the priorities and investments we help qualify today, we help ensure that the police have the right solutions and resources to solve its tasks tomorrow.
What can you expect from the position with us?
In the Center for IT and Project Economics we work to create transparent and coherent governance of the finances in the Danish National Police's overall project portfolio and support that the police's finances and resources are used in the best possible way.
We are looking for generalists who want to drive processes and work with financial management in a large and complex public authority. You may already have experience managing larger public projects, but you can also bring a strong analytical and generalist profile and a desire to develop yourself in the field. Your experience could be from a ministry, a consulting firm, or another public authority.
In the Center for IT and Project Economics we have the portfolio-wide responsibility for the financial management of the Danish National Police's development projects. The project portfolio spans a wide range—from development of new IT solutions to material acquisitions and larger construction projects. As a employee with us you will therefore sit around the table on some of the police's largest and most important development projects.
You will get close to the police's largest projects
We advise the projects, manage financial governance, and prepare financial analyses for both the projects and the Danish National Police's top management. In addition, you will assist projects in connection with political servicing of the Ministry of Justice and the Parliament.
This also means that you will collaborate with colleagues with very different expertise. Economists, project managers, IT specialists, lawyers, police-trained staff and leaders naturally view the projects from different perspectives. We actively use this diversity. You must therefore both be eager to bring your own expertise into play and be curious about the knowledge others bring. That is how we qualify our decisions and become better together.
With us you will have a large professional responsibility. We have clear decision pathways, but there is also room for you to take initiative, challenge constructively, and bring your own assessments. When you see a better way to approach an analysis, process, or governance task, we expect you to put it into practice.
And when tasks require it, we pull together. Projects can be complex, deadlines can be tight, and there may be a need for rapid clarifications. Here we help each other to create an overview, find solutions, and deliver the task safely to completion.
Your professional development
We place great emphasis on each employee's professional development.
This happens through new and more complex tasks, ongoing sparring and feedback, as well as relevant courses and skills development. You will also become part of an environment where there is a short path to colleagues with other experiences and professional specializations, and where we actively use each other in solving tasks.
The Danish National Police is a large organization with many different professional areas and career paths. Therefore there are also good opportunities over time to develop further and bring your competencies into play in other parts of the organization.
About us
The Center for IT and Project Economics is part of the Danish National Police's Corporate Economics. Our task is to ensure sound financial governance and efficient use of the police's funds for IT and development projects.
Police projects and IT systems have great societal and political attention and constitute an important part of the foundation for the police's overall task solving. Therefore you will work with some of the highly prioritized and strategically important areas in the Danish National Police.
The center consists of about 25 employees, and we work closely with other parts of the Danish National Police as well as the rest of the Danish police.
With us you become part of a professionally engaged environment with an informal tone and room for humor. Sparring takes place both in planned meetings and across desks in everyday life. We prioritize a strong professional and social community and place emphasis on a good working environment with flexibility in task solving.
We can do a lot on our own, but the best solutions are found together. This applies both in day-to-day task solving and at times when an important matter requires us to combine our diverse competencies and move quickly.
Our expectations of you
We imagine you have a relevant social science master's degree, for example in political science, economics, or similar.
You have broad economic understanding and strong analytical competencies, and it is an advantage if you have experience with financial management – preferably from a politically governed organization.
You must be able to engage in dialogue with specialists, project managers, and management, while also being curious about perspectives that differ from your own.
The most important is that you are motivated to use your professional skills on tasks where financial management is not just about numbers. Your analyses, prioritizations, and recommendations help create the basis for the solutions and investments the police will need – both now and in the future.
Salary and employment terms
You will be employed under collective agreement terms in accordance with the currently applicable agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Academics Central Organization. You will be placed as an administrator, senior consultant, or chief consultant based on qualifications.
The employment area is the Danish National Police, and your primary workplace is Polititorvet 14, 1567 Copenhagen V. You should also expect to work on our other locations in Ejby, Glostrup, and Frederikskaj in Copenhagen.
It is a condition of employment that you can obtain a security clearance and maintain the clearance throughout your employment.
The Danish National Police has a non-smoking work environment.

We ensure that the police have the right framework for its work and development. We stand behind good leadership and education. Behind service weapons that match the task.
