About the job

Are you a professionally grounded educator with ambitions to expand your responsibility and have greater influence on the development of pedagogical practice? Are you motivated by supporting staff, creating professional direction, and being part of a strong leadership community?

Then perhaps you are the person we are looking for as department head at Trille-Tumle.

In Høje-Taastrup Municipality we are now establishing a new department head function in the largest of our day care offerings. Therefore we are seeking a department head for Børnehuset Trille-Tumle. You will have a unique opportunity to help shape the role and leave your mark on both practice, culture and professional development.

What do we have at heart for the children?

For us, the focus is first and foremost on the children. We want all children to feel seen, heard, met and understood – and to feel that they belong in the community. We believe that children develop best when they are met by present adults, strong relationships and learning environments that give them the opportunity to participate, succeed and be themselves.

We work from an inclusive view of childhood and with the NEST pedagogy as a central part of our practice. We are committed to creating participation opportunities for all children and to developing learning environments where difference is seen as a strength.

As department head you help to maintain this focus on the children and contribute to translating it into concrete pedagogical practice.

Professionally leading close to everyday life

With us, professional leadership happens close to practice. You will become a visible and approachable sparring partner for the staff and will play a central role in strengthening professionalism and creating a common direction.

You report to the pedagogical leader and become part of the day care centre's leadership team. You do not have personnel responsibility, but you will have a special responsibility for professional leadership, practice development and coordination.

Your tasks will include, among others,

  • Guiding and sparring with staff about the pedagogical practice
  • Facilitating staff meetings and supporting professional reflection
  • Systematically working with quality in the learning environments, including KIDS
  • Coordinating initiatives for children who need special attention
  • Supporting onboarding of new staff
  • Participating in parent meetings and cross-disciplinary meetings
  • Translating new knowledge, decisions and professional goals into action in practice
  • Working with schedules and staffing (SUBIT)

You will be self-directing in close collaboration with the pedagogical leader, so there is a balance between your presence in practice and time for administrative tasks.

A strong collaboration around the children

We believe that the best solutions are created together. Therefore, cooperation with parents, PPR (Psycho-Educational Counseling), pedagogical supervisors and other partners plays an important role. You must be able to unite different perspectives, create an overview and translate advice and professional knowledge into concrete actions for the children.

You must also be able to stand confidently in parent collaboration – including in conversations that can be difficult. You meet others with respect and curiosity while also being clear, maintaining the direction and keeping the shared focus: What does the child need?

We invest in your development

We want you to get the best possible start in the role. Therefore we offer a thorough onboarding process with close leadership support and ongoing sparring. You will also have good opportunities for professional and personal development.

You will, among other things, receive

  • A structured onboarding process focusing on both tasks, culture and leadership
  • Weekly leadership sparring with the pedagogical leader
  • Access to a strong leadership community characterized by trust, reflection and shared learning
  • Opportunity to gradually develop your leadership competencies in a safe and supportive environment

We are looking for you who are curious, reflective and relationally strong. You know that good solutions are created through dialogue, involvement and shared professional reflection. You thrive close to practice and are motivated to support staff in their professional development while you can keep focus on direction, quality and common goals.

We offer

As department head you will have the opportunity to help shape a new function in Høje-Taastrup Municipality's day care services. You will have the opportunity to develop your competencies within leadership and practice development in close collaboration with the pedagogical leader – and you will become part of an organization focused on learning, collaboration and shared responsibility.

Who are you?

You are first and foremost a strong pedagogical professional who wants to take a special responsibility for development, quality and collaboration. You are motivated by supporting staff and contributing to a shared professional direction.

We expect that you

  • Are a trained educator and have experience from day care
  • Have interest in or experience with professional leadership, guidance or coordination
  • Can create following through through dialogue, relationships and clear communication
  • Have an eye for both quality in the pedagogical work and day-to-day operations

In addition, we emphasize that you work development-oriented, hold the line even when changes take time. You have a contemporary view of childhood and can apply your professional knowledge in collaboration with staff, children and parents.
