Head of Department for Building and Energy at Egedal Municipality

Would you like to help set direction, ensure prioritization and further develop Egedal Municipality's Department of Building and Energy in a busy and ambitious working day, where collaboration, frameworks, direction and shared professional identity are central?

Egedal Municipality will invest ambitiously in the municipality's buildings for the coming many years. We are constructing new and developing large urban areas for the benefit of the town's children, adults, sports and cultural life. We also take care of the existing building stock and have in 2025 completed a condition assessment of all municipal properties. Based on this knowledge, the coming years have 40-60 million kroner annually allocated for renovation and maintenance of the municipality's buildings.

In Building and Energy in the Center for Properties and Construction, we therefore work with renovating and developing the municipality's building portfolio, we manage construction and renovation projects from idea to commissioning and operation as well as energy-optimizing the municipality's buildings.

We are in the process of constructing new facilities in the day-care sector and a multi-purpose hall. We are looking for a person who can help shape our organization, and our implementation of the phase model, commissioning, CTS strategy, design manuals, ICT, property strategy, use of condition assessments and sustainability. We want to develop a solid building stock with long-term goals in cross-functional collaboration between users, operation and technical advisors.

We are seeking a clear and competent Department Head reporting to the Center Manager with experience to lead the Building Department, Building and Energy. The department consists of experienced project managers and energy staff, in a modern city hall where departments work closely together across the building.

A bit about us and your tasks

Building and Energy is a department in the Center for Property and Construction, which handles energy management, renovation, construction and administration of the municipality's property portfolio. The Construction Department is in close cooperation with the center's other 4 areas; Property Service and Administration, Sports and Halls, City Hall Operations and Service, and Building Operation and Maintenance. In addition there is also Canteen – Operations and Service.

One of your main tasks as a leader is to join the Property and Construction management group and help set the strategic direction for the center's development. By leading and prioritizing the department's tasks, including developing the department's employees and ensuring them in project sparring and supportive involvement. You will here have responsibility to further develop and implement our phase model for better construction in dialogue with the stakeholders.

The department's areas of work and responsibility are

• Political servicing and case preparation
• Construction projects from idea to commissioning, and winding down the warranty period
• Involvement of and dialogue with partners – both within our own center and across the municipality
• Prioritization and planning of renovation projects and financial framework budgets
• Ensure good and flexible framework agreements for technical advisory services
• Energy management and optimization, sustainable construction and total economy
• Management and development of the municipality's paradigms in connection with commissioning, CTS strategy, ICT, design manuals and phase model for long-term better construction
• Collaboration with political level, management, executive group, users and the operations organization
• Communication
• Leading and servicing steering groups, reference groups etc.

About you

We imagine that you have a strong professional profile and leadership experience, as a head of construction or experience from a client organization with an extensive portfolio of buildings and construction projects. It would also be an advantage if you have knowledge of construction processes in a public organization, development of welfare construction and new forms of collaboration within the construction industry, especially with users and operations.

Salary and employment terms

The position is full-time. You will be employed in accordance with the applicable collective agreement with the relevant professional organization.

You will have your workplace at our attractive and modern city hall, a short walk from Egedal Station, from which the S-train runs every 10 minutes during peak hours.
