Brøndagerskolen is a holistic offering for children and young people with autism spectrum disorders. We have 99 students and about 130 employees distributed across school and after-school services.

Our teachers, pedagogues and assistants work in fixed cross-disciplinary teams around smaller student groups. We base our approach on the individual student’s resources, potentials and development opportunities, and we work with a strength-based view of children, where our fundamental understanding is that children do the right thing if they can.

You will be part of a management team consisting of the school principal, deputy principal and three department heads. We are a school in ongoing development and work purposefully to strengthen both professional quality, organization and collaboration for the benefit of the students’ learning, well-being and development.

As department head you will have the daily management responsibility for about four cross-disciplinary teams. You will support staff professional development, ensure quality in task execution and contribute to creating clear frameworks and direction in everyday life.

  • Ensure well-being and good collaborative relations between staff, students and parents
  • Contribute to strong interdisciplinary collaboration
  • Actively participate in the school’s development and change processes
  • Manage administrative and operational tasks such as timetable planning, substitute coverage and student transportation
  • Contribute to the development of Brøndagerskolen’s overall strategic direction.

We are looking for a leader who

  • Has a teaching or pedagogical education
  • Has experience with leadership, preferably from a special school or similar area
  • Has knowledge of autism and special pedagogical interventions
  • Thrives with administrative, strategic and pedagogical tasks
  • Has a diploma in leadership or an equivalent leadership qualification
  • Can translate professional knowledge into action and development in practice
  • Communicates clearly and respectfully
  • Can create trust, followership and strong working communities
  • Thrives in a complex everyday life with many collaboration interfaces
  • Can create overview, direction and momentum, even when many tasks are in play at the same time.

We value that you are proactive, relationally strong and see collaboration as a prerequisite for good leadership. You actively contribute to joint solutions and take responsibility for both your own area and the school’s overall development.

We offer

  • A meaningful leadership position with a high degree of independent responsibility for the children’s learning and staff’s professional development.
  • Opportunity to influence the development of one of the country’s largest special schools in the autism field
  • An engaged and professionally strong staff community
  • A cross-disciplinary environment with psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and educational mentors
  • An leadership team with a high degree of collaboration, sparring and shared responsibility
