About the job

Do you want to lead a strong professional effort for children in vulnerable positions in the day-care sector in Gentofte Municipality? Do you have experience with leadership, facilitation and interdisciplinary collaboration, and are you motivated to create the best possible framework for both staff and day-care centers? Then the position as head of the learning-environment pedagogues might be for you.

A central role in a new organisation

Gentofte Municipality is in the process of reorganising Børnevisitationen in the day-care sector, where resources and part of the decision-making in the visitation area will in the future be placed more decentralised in local leadership networks. The new organisation is still under development, and as head of the learning-environment pedagogues, you will be an important partner in translating the model into practice.

The final model has not yet been definitively set, and you must therefore be able to thrive in a development process and actively contribute to creating clear and professionally sustainable frames for the upcoming organisation.

As head of the learning-environment pedagogues you will have personnel and leadership responsibility for our approx. 20 learning-environment pedagogues, who work across the municipality's day-care services. You are responsible for coordinating and distributing the tasks with a focus on strengthening the professional effort around the children, including how staff and leaders create the best possible development conditions for the children.

At the same time you are responsible for leading and qualifying the initiatives locally, so decisions are made on an informed basis and with a starting point in high professional quality.

We envisage that you will play a central role in the collaboration with the local networks consisting of day-care directors. Here you will facilitate the professional discussions regarding the learning-environment pedagogues' initiatives, support knowledge sharing between the leaders and ensure that the networks bring knowledge, experiences and perspectives across the day-care centers into play. You should help strengthen the networks' joint capacity to develop the pedagogical practice and inclusive learning environments, including the responsibility for coordination.

Your leadership responsibility

As head of the learning-environment pedagogues you must create a safe and professionally substantive space where leaders and professionals have trust to share challenges and together explore how the pedagogical practice and the learning environments can be developed. You must ensure that relevant perspectives are brought into play, and that the dialogue is respectful, exploratory and aimed at strengthening staff’s ability to act in practice.

You must ensure ongoing professional development of the learning-environment pedagogues. You are responsible for ensuring that the pedagogical resources are used purposefully and qualifiedly to create good frameworks for the children. You are responsible for assessing and prioritising the use of reinforced initiatives. We will ensure that the initiatives are allocated on a professionally justified basis, where there is coherence between the children's needs, the daycare's prerequisites and the expected effect.

You have a special responsibility to ensure a coherent and professionally qualified transition to the central visitation if a child's needs are assessed to lie beyond what can be implemented locally.

You have the ongoing overview of the use of resources, including where the resources are placed, the duration of the initiative and the goals set for the initiative. In collaboration with the network you prioritise resource use and follow up on whether the initiatives support the desired development.

We envisage that you

  • Have a relevant pedagogical or psychological professional background and solid leadership and practical experience.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the day-care sector and work with children in vulnerable positions.
  • Can facilitate complex professional discussions and create constructive collaborations.
  • Have strong analytical skills and can translate professional assessments into clear decisions.
  • Are focused on creating learning, quality and a common direction across day-care centres.
  • We would like you to have a Diploma in Leadership or be willing to pursue one.

You will join a close collaboration with the management in Day-care and cross-disciplinary partners. You report to the Dagtilbudschefen (Head of Day-care), while the day-to-day management is handled by the pedagogical leader.
