About the job

3,500 buildings, 830 properties and more than 2.6 million square meters. It is Copenhagen Properties' responsibility to maintain the physical framework of the everyday life of Copenhageners – from schools and day-care centers to cultural houses and social services. Now we are seeking a unit manager who will lead our maintenance efforts so that our buildings in the future can continue to accommodate the everyday life that is lived in them.

With us you step into an organization that has recently brought together planning, prioritization, and execution of maintenance in the same center. Planned Maintenance is primarily an executing unit. Every year we initiate more than 300 maintenance projects for the municipality's seven sector administrations and maintain over DKK 700 million annually in tasks ranging from pavilion buildings and modern institutions to historic landmarks in Copenhagen.

We offer a position as unit manager for Planned Maintenance at a time when the entire organization is focused on sustainability, customer needs, and the professionalization of our governance framework. We must be skilled at executing the projects, but also at the project process itself – from the first dialogue with the customer in one of the municipality's seven administrations until the project is completed.

From 2027 a new governance model for property maintenance will be implemented, and you will be a central actor in bringing it to life. All of this happens in a good working environment with high professionalism, an informal tone, and relationships characterized by trust and collaboration.

Strategic height, transparency and execution

' In our center you have the opportunity to become the head of a department with two professionally skilled section managers, who are relatively new in the leadership role. You also enter a large property organization with about 1,900 employees, where we have specialists in all areas and have plenty of opportunities to deliver high quality again and again. If you have natural curiosity, a strong desire to influence, and you are decisive, then we have plenty of space for you to thrive , says Center Chief Lone Buch.

You report to the Center Chief of Property Development and Maintenance and are part of a leadership team together with the heads of the other three units in the center. You will lead a department of around 30 employees and have direct line management responsibility for the two section managers and the unit's small procurement and contracting team.

About you

You are an experienced people leader with experience from a politically led operations organization – perhaps also experience in leading leaders. It would be an advantage to bring knowledge of property maintenance and operation, but it may also be that you come with maintenance experience from other sectors. It is important that you are very sharp on project management professionalism.

As a person you are decisive so that the pace of execution remains high. You read the room when requirements are many and interests conflicting, and you can navigate in both a large and varied workload and the complex political reality we work in. You create quiet in the face of long, hard tasks, but you go close to the processes and your section managers when required.

Small print

You can read more about the position in the detailed note. Salary and employment terms according to current collective agreement and within the framework of local pay formation.

You are welcome to call consultant Frederikke Helweg Hansen from Mercuri Urval on +45 41 32 86 24 for a confidential dialogue. You can also contact center chief Lone Buch at +45 24 97 54 45.

Application deadline: Apply via the link no later than Sunday 18 October 2026

We expect to hold 1st interviews on Tuesday 20 October and 2nd interviews on Tuesday 27 October. Between interviews there will be testing, and we will request references.
