About the job

Do you want to be involved from the start as we build an entirely new department?

It isn’t every day you get the opportunity to step into a leadership position where both the department, the organization, and your own role must be shaped.

From January, the Department of Geriatric Diseases and Citizen-Centered Health will be established as a new, independent department at Zealand University Hospital with activities in Køge and Nykøbing Falster. Therefore we are looking for a health administrative leader who wants to be involved right from the beginning.

You will have personnel responsibility for our health administrative staff and will at the same time be part of the secretariat function around the department leadership. The role gives you a unique opportunity to set the direction for the health administrative function, create good structures and workflows, and help define how the secretarial professionalism should develop in the new department.

We are looking for someone who both has a focus on people, operations, and development, and who is motivated by the fact that not everything is predefined in advance.

A new department with new opportunities

The department arises in connection with the division of the current Medical Department. You will therefore be a key person in building the new organization and will be part of a close, cross-disciplinary leadership collaboration.

At the same time, the health care system is facing major changes. The upcoming health reform and the establishment of the Region of East Denmark bring new tasks and forms of cooperation, and the Citizen-Centered Health area will be an important part of the new department.

Here you will have the opportunity to help translate the changes into everyday practice and to find new solutions together with employees and leadership colleagues.

Our ambition for the health administrative area

We see health administrative staff as an important coordinating and unifying link in the patient journey.

This applies on in-patient wards, in outpatient clinics, and not least within Citizen-Centered Health, where patient pathways are increasingly moving toward more needs-driven and virtual treatment contacts.

This sets new demands on our patient contact, care coordination, documentation, and use of data. Therefore we want a leader who is curious about how secretary professionalism can be developed and contribute even more to integrated patient pathways.

You do not need to have all the answers upfront. Instead, you should be willing to ask the questions, involve the employees, and together with us develop the solutions.

In the management group we work closely on the department’s four strategic tracks, which are based on SUH's focus areas:

Professionalism · Research · Flow · Community

We believe in solidarity, interdisciplinarity and innovation. We dare try new solutions, learn along the way, and adjust when needed. The department’s development efforts are based on the improvement model and supported, among other things, by weekly KPI meetings.

Your role will be broad, and you will have a real opportunity to shape it

You will be the closest leader for 8 health administrative staff/medical secretaries.

As a leader, you must create the framework for both stable operations and professional development. You will also serve as the link between the health administrative group, the ward management, and the department leadership.

Your key areas of responsibility will be

Leadership and employees

You are responsible for daily management, resource planning, wellbeing, recruitment, and competency development. You also contribute to an attractive professional environment and ensure good conditions for our SAK students.

Building a new health administrative function

You will help define workflows, collaboration interfaces, task distribution, and prioritizations in the new department. Here, the employees’ experience and professional competence will be an important part of the development.

Secretariat function close to the department leadership

You will handle coordinating and administrative tasks for the department leadership and thus have a central position close to the department’s decisions, operations, and development.

Digitization, data and new patient pathways

You contribute to the development of digital and virtual patient pathways and have an eye for documentation practice, data, and data governance as part of both daily operations and the department’s development.

Coherence across disciplines

You help create good transitions and collaborative relationships across professions, functions, and sites with the patient pathway as our shared focal point.

Who are you?

We imagine that you have management experience – preferably supplemented with relevant continuing education. You thrive in a visible leadership role and can navigate the cross-field between operations, leadership, and administrative support functions.

We particularly emphasize that you

  • want to build something new and can provide direction even when not all solutions are given upfront
  • are visionary and lead development initiatives in an organization undergoing change, and value quality work and a good working environment
  • have strong communication skills, assertiveness, and an inclusive, collaborative leadership style.
  • have good collaboration skills both within and across disciplines.
  • have in-depth knowledge of the hospital’s IT systems and experience with documentation practices.
  • have talent for and preferably experience with working with data and data governance.
  • can see yourself in the hospital’s core values: Innovation, Integrity, Community, and Loyalty .

We offer

The opportunity to build something from the ground up

You join at a time when the new structures and forms of collaboration still need to find their shape. Your experience and ideas will therefore have real significance.

A leadership role with both people and influence

You will have your own group of employees while working closely with the department leadership and being involved in the organizational and strategic agendas.

A strong leadership community

You will be part of a cross-disciplinary management team with a high level of sparring and close collaboration, including a fixed weekly collaboration with the chief nurse.

A good start

You will receive a thorough onboarding program and opportunities for ongoing professional and leadership development.

An ambitious department

We want a workplace with high professionalism, curiosity, and courage to develop, while also taking care of wellbeing and community.

Would you like to be with us from the beginning?

If you are motivated by creating something new together with others, and if you can see opportunities in a leadership role where operations, development, people and secretarial function meet , we would love to hear from you.
