About the job
Helsingør Municipality's Libraries seek a communicator for front desk service, local communities and communications
Do you want to raise visibility of the library's many offerings while helping to develop new collaborations, communities and events?
At Helsingør Libraries we are looking for an employee with a keen eye for storytelling and communication, and who is curious about people and the local community. We are looking for a colleague who wants to reach out to new partners, develop activities with local actors and strengthen the library's role as an open and relevant cultural institution.
About the job
A substantial part of the position is daily library service. You should thrive as a host in the library, in contact with users and the task of creating a welcoming and relevant library experience.
Communication will also be a central part of your work. You will help to make the library's activities visible and convey the stories that show the library's importance for the local community.
You will also be responsible for developing relationships with local authors and engaged citizens and translating your own, colleagues' and citizens' good ideas into activities and communities.
The daily routine alternates between planning, collaboration, events, communication and participation in the library's daily operations. At the same time you will be part of the working groups for adult events, reading communities and communication.
Your qualifications
We imagine that you
- have a relevant higher education degree in culture, library, communication, outreach or similar
- have experience with communication and preferably with culture or project work
- Experience with library work is a plus
- are good at building relationships and thrive in collaboration with many different people
- write engaging and confident content for different target groups - and can find the right platforms for the purpose
- are keen to work both strategically with development and practically with the execution of activities and events and service in the library space
- We particularly emphasize your ability to create collaborations and communities and your curiosity about people and local initiatives.
Your most important tasks will be to
- Serve visitors of all ages at all our libraries, primarily in Hornbæk and at Kulturværftet, but sometimes also Espergærde. At least 40% of your time is spent on this important outreach/communication task.
Shifts are in the hours 9:00-20:15 on weekdays as well as weekend shifts (approx. every 4th weekend Saturday 9:00-16:15 and every 8th Sunday 10:00-16:15). There will also be shifts on one-to-two public holidays during the year.
- Lead in developing and delivering events, programs and/or activities focusing on local authors in Helsingør Municipality (our Local Author Web). You will join our events group and receive input and practical assistance.
- Together with your colleagues you will raise the visibility of the library's offerings and activities through social media, the website, newsletters and other communication channels.
- Work with reading clubs in collaboration with your colleague group
About us as an employer
The position is placed in the library's Outreach Department with around 25 dedicated colleagues. You will become part of the library's Outreach Department, where we work with librarian front desk service and hosting, communications, reading communities, collaborations with schools and day-care institutions, and events for citizens of all ages.
We collaborate closely across the library's departments and with external partners. As part of Kulturværftet we are also surrounded by strong cultural actors with whom we continually develop activities together.
With us you will be part of a workplace with high professional standards, great variety in tasks and good opportunities for sparring. We emphasize collaboration, development and a high level of service, and we see the library as an active player in the local community.
We offer
- An academically engaging job with good colleagues and many collaboration opportunities across the library, the municipality and the local cultural life.
- A 37-hour-per-week position with flexible hours and the possibility of home work by arrangement. Most of the working time should be spent on site.
- A workplace where we want to be a learning organization with room for development, mistakes and celebrations. We believe that well-being and good results go hand in hand.
- We tailor your onboarding in front desk service based on your experience and background.
- Salary and terms in accordance with the current collective agreement.
