About the job

Would you like to be part of a fantastic team both administratively and pedagogically? Then read on as Hornslet School is seeking a new pedagogical lead for SFO.

Do you dream of leading and developing a large SFO with 360 children and 16 educators, then the opportunity is here now. ”We need to be led, understood, shaken up, inspired and seen with new eyes,” so you must be willing to step in and do that.

You will become part of the leadership team at a large school - on two campuses - with strong ambitions to develop as leaders and be part of a co-led team to live up to our purpose.

Leisure-time pedagogy at Hornslet School is complex. Full of 360 children with a wide range of ages, needs and desires. Sometimes chaotic in all its spontaneity, life and dilemmas, but also calm and stable with activities within movement, creativity and outdoor life.

We want to become better at the performance-oriented pedagogy so we can help the children on their way in their interdependent negotiations about participation in free play and child-initiated activities. To be able to make choices in the concrete situation about what is good for the individual child and for the community. We need you to lead and facilitate in that direction and to help develop our SFO so that it becomes the best place to be after school.

We have good facilities both indoors and outdoors, and they spread over a large area. A completely new area has been built with a gathering hall, a motor skills hall and lounges for hanging out. We need someone who can organize and structure daily life, see opportunities in the facilities and help ensure and develop both indoor and outdoor areas.

As the Pedagogical Lead for SFO at Hornslet School you will not only lead a professionally strong staff group, but also be a member of a competent leadership team consisting of four pedagogical department heads, an administrative leader and a school principal.

We deliberately work with sustainable leadership through co-leadership and help each other to keep focus on a good working environment and the right priorities in everyday life based on the roles we each have. We work as a co-leading team based on Socratic governance principles. We are also in the process of a development track on opportunities for participation for all, both with the staff group and in the leadership team.

We want to develop our competencies in leading the professional and pedagogical leadership closely, and this will also apply to you. We look forward to welcoming a new leadership colleague — one who will both contribute to and become part of a team where solidarity, collaboration, professionalism and well-being go hand in hand.

Hornslet School and SFO are seeking a skilled pedagogical lead who has an interest in and insight into the development of leisure-time pedagogy and who is willing to lead closely and thus also be present on the floor during SFO hours. You must have the patience to put your finger in the soil and feel daily life, and at the same time you must have the courage to develop and lead improvements.

You will join a staff group that has been here for many years but also a staff group with many new members. Here you must be able to lead a culture of care while there are many new ideas and initiatives to be implemented for the SFO’s best. You must be able to personally lead individuals and create a sense of community in the staff group as well as create a good working environment. You will have a leadership collaboration with our SFO deputy principal.

The upcoming pedagogical lead can therefore benefit from

  • being a trained educator with experience from an SFO
  • willing to join a co-leading team and work according to the principles
  • standing for integrity
  • willing to develop and put yourself at risk
  • being brave, action-oriented and decisive
  • driving leadership close to the core task
  • willing to delegate responsibility
  • having staff management and working for a good working environment
  • being able to facilitate and be supportive into the SFO team
  • having good dialogue with our parents
  • having a certain amount of administrative flair regarding working hours etc.
  • having a transparent and dialogue-seeking leadership approach
  • having a good dose of humor and good spirits
  • having overview and seeing opportunities in using the facilities we have.
