About the job
Are you passionate about IT security – from risk management to network architecture, technical analysis and system security? Do you want to share your knowledge and experience with dedicated students who will help secure our digital future? Then perhaps you are the one we are looking for.
We are seeking an instructor with solid insight into IT security, who has a technically proficient profile and a passion for conveying complex topics in a way that inspires and engages. You will become part of a professionally strong environment where we work closely together to develop the teaching and ensure high quality in our programs.
Your primary tasks will be teaching and advising on the Top-Up IT Security program, which is a post-baccalaureate program at bachelor level, but you will also eventually teach our new Cyber Security program.
About the programs
The Top-Up IT Security program is our current post-baccalaureate program, which builds on a computer science or IT technology education. The program builds further on the knowledge, skills and competencies that the students bring from their basic education, through a focus on IT security. The program lasts 1 ½ years and includes an internship period and a BA report in the last half year.
The Cyber Security education is a professional bachelor program of 3¼ years, aimed at educating students to acquire knowledge, skills and competencies within general IT security areas. In this program, students will be equipped to gain a holistic view of working with IT security in a company or other organization. We offered the program at UCL for the first time with intake in autumn 2026.
Our wishes for you
As an IT security instructor you will be a central part of our effort to educate competent and responsible IT professionals who can navigate an increasingly complex digital landscape.
You will be responsible for planning and delivering teaching that spans broadly but carries weight in technical topics such as network and communications security, system security, software security, threat analysis and incident management, but also their connections to strategic and organizational perspectives such as governance and compliance.
You will work with students who are curious, ambitious and motivated to make a difference. Your role will not only be to teach but also to inspire and challenge them to think critically and holistically about IT security. You will have the opportunity to bring your own experiences and professional interests into play, and together with the rest of the team you will have the opportunity to influence both teaching methods and content.
The position also includes the possibility to participate in development projects, collaborate with industry and contribute to the ongoing quality assurance and innovation of the education. You will become part of a dedicated professional environment where we value knowledge sharing, sparring and joint professional development – and where there is room for both ambition and humor in everyday life.
You have a relevant education, preferably at master's level (e.g., Master, cand.it. or cand.polyt.) or equivalent professional experience that qualifies you to teach and supervise at BA level. If you have a BA-equivalent education, you will need to participate in a upskilling Master program in the first two years of employment.
About us
You will become part of the Department of Business and IT with 62 employees and 1,200 students spread across eighteen programs. We offer:
- A position where you develop broadly and work closely with the department's other programs and subject areas
- A daily life with great flexibility and responsibility
- A job where you draw on and continuously maintain your contact and network with industry
- A varied workday with both teaching and development tasks
- A work environment where we support each other, challenge each other and laugh together
If you need further information about the position, you are welcome to contact the Education Manager Morten Veng Christensen at tel.: 6165 9261.
You can also read more about us here.
Employment
You will be employed from January 1, 2027 and your average working time will be 37 hours per week.
Your primary place of employment will be Seebladsgade 1, Odense C, but there may be occasional meetings at UCL’s other addresses in Odense M, Svendborg, Vejle or Jelling.
The employment is in accordance with the circular on the state academic agreements or the Circular on the Common Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Teachers and CO10 – the Central Organization of 2010 (LC/CO10 common agreement), as well as the regulations on the structure of positions for instructors at university colleges, professional bachelor's degrees and the Danish Media and Journalists’ College. The position is covered by the principles of Nyløn.
If you are hired as an assistant professor, you will enter a tutor qualification program, cf. the Regulations on Tutor Qualification, Lecturer Evaluation and Professor Evaluation of instructors at university colleges, professional bachelor colleges, the Danish Media and Journalists’ College and certain maritime educational institutions. An assistant professor uplift is a maximum of 4 years.
If you are hired as a senior lecturer, we would prefer that you are senior lecturer evaluated according to the 2013 position structure.
If you have senior lecturer evaluation under earlier position structures, you may, by agreement, choose to have the appointment under the previously centrally set pay and employment terms according to the 2003 position structure, which among other things may affect the size of your lecturer allowance and the possibility of being appointed as a member of the lecturer evaluation committee.
Alternatively you may agree to a renewed senior lecturer evaluation under the current position structure and according to the rules in chapter 5 of the Regulations on Tutor Qualification, Lecturer Evaluation and Professor Evaluation of instructors at university colleges, professional bachelor colleges, the Danish Media and Journalists’ College and certain maritime educational institutions. Evaluation is based on a short 8-page lecturer request concerning research and development competencies. The request must be submitted to UCL in connection with the hiring process.
Evaluation is decided within 3-6 weeks by an external evaluation committee appointed by UCL. In case of a negative evaluation, the appointment may be made under the previous position structure or as an assistant professor.
UCL offers guidance in connection with preparing the request
