About the job
Introductory resident in Neurology - Zealand University Hospital, Roskilde - January + February 2027
Neurology Department, Zealand University Hospital, Roskilde
Neurology combines advanced diagnostics, acute treatment and long-term patient care across a wide spectrum of diseases of the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.
If you have completed KBU you can get a closer introduction to the field through an introductory position with us. You will become part of a dynamic specialty where every day brings new diagnostic considerations, close supervision and good opportunities for professional development.
About the department
We handle the diagnostic workup and treatment of neurological patients within all subspecialties, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular diseases, epilepsy, movement disorders, dementia and ALS. The majority of acute neurological patient pathways in Region Zealand are managed by us, and the specialized outpatient contacts within both neurology and neurophysiology are anchored here in Roskilde.
Your employment with us gives you the opportunity to try the entire palette of neurology. You will quickly encounter both acute and complex patient pathways. With clinical reasoning, thorough examination and interdisciplinary collaboration you will contribute to a good patient journey and at the same time develop quickly within the specialty. We are looking for an introductory physician who seeks professional challenges, a strong learning environment and a daily life characterized by development and variation.
We have about 30 training physicians in the department (introductory doctors, HU doctors in neurology and psychiatry, and KBU doctors). This provides a dynamic and engaged learning environment, which we highly value – supported by two chief physicians responsible for training and one junior physician responsible for training.
What we offer you?
Security in clinical work
- Ward rounds with always a specialist physician
- Two-track on-call shifts around the clock – you always have a partner on duty
- Always one on-site back-up (thrombolysis duty during on-call hours)
Professional development and education
- Regular teaching with clinical topics based on the curriculum, bedside patient demonstrations, case-based neuroanatomy reviews and article presentations
- Daily radiology conferences and close collaboration with neuroradiologists
- Up to 4 additional training days beyond the mandatory courses, where you can accompany your supervisor in the outpatient clinic, join neuroradiology, thrombolysis or neurophysiology – or something else entirely by your own request
Research and career
- The department is active in research with PhD programs, and you have the opportunity to pursue clinical research more closely if you are interested and qualified
- Your supervisor will offer you career guidance as part of mentor conversations
Good collegial environment
- The Neurology Department is a workplace where we have a strong collegial community where we take care of each other and get to know each other
- We emphasize a good tone, room for sparring and strong interdisciplinary collaboration
About the position
- Start: January 1 or February 1, 2027
- The department is currently normed to 11 introductory positions per year
