About the job

Do you have extensive knowledge of social-pedagogical practice and crime – and do you want to use it to make a difference for people with developmental disabilities and complex life circumstances? Then we have a unique opportunity for you.

In the Special Area Developmental Disability we are looking for you who, through education and experience, has built knowledge and competencies within the target group, crime and the system around remedial orders, and who enjoys communicating, creating meaning and translating into concrete actions. It is important that you can establish a good contact with the target group we work with – they are exactly who we are here for. So this is a consultancy role with both practice-oriented and development-oriented tasks.

As a consultant you will, among other things, collaborate with our psychologists, criminologists, social-pedagogical consultants and the rest of operations regarding both internal and external initiatives for our target group. Your focus will especially be on crime prevention measures, and you will participate in the overall interdisciplinary support of our five residential facilities.

Special Area Developmental Disability (SUA) is the Region Midtjylland's comprehensive offering to adults with developmental disabilities. SUA consists of five services geographically distributed in the Region of Central Denmark. We have capacity for 111 residents and in total about 400 staff. Read more about us at www.sua.rm.dk

In SUA we support people with developmental disabilities and complex life circumstances such as crime, substance abuse and psychiatric diagnoses in living a life with meaning, mastery and opportunities in everyday life.

We collaborate on the initiatives to create a everyday life to grow in – a future to master.

Your workplace will be our common secretariat in Hinnerup, where you work together with the other supporting functions. But you also have your regular presence at our five services and on external assignments both inside and outside the region.

Among your tasks will be to

  • Execute and develop specialized social-work counseling for SUA’s services, municipalities, group homes and other partners in complex social cases with a focus on preventing undesirable behavioral patterns, supporting the development of appropriate coping strategies, as well as planning and implementing relevant professional interventions.
  • Contribute to quality and development in interventions, internally as externally
  • Facilitate professional reflection and practice-oriented learning through sparring, teaching and competence development of managers, staff and citizens.
  • Analyze practice and data to identify development opportunities and assess the quality and effectiveness of professional interventions.
  • Teach and disseminate specialized knowledge through professional presentations, teaching materials and written dissemination products.
  • Develop, test and further develop methods, interventions and professional concepts in the field.
  • Participate in relevant professional networks and working groups to strengthen professional development and qualify the efforts in the specialized social field.

We imagine that you have a relevant higher education at master’s level in e.g. criminology, social work, psychology, pedagogy or a related field. We are however also open to other relevant professional profiles that can contribute with strong analytical and development-oriented competencies. It is an advantage if you have experience with crime prevention work e.g., from the specialized social field or Denmark's prisons.

We emphasize that you have

  • Solid theoretical and research-based knowledge about crime, crime prevention and vulnerability. Including connections between developmental disabilities and crime.
  • Experience in collaborating with people with developmental disabilities and have knowledge of remedial orders and the criminal justice system.
  • Experience in translating research-based and specialized knowledge into practice-oriented counseling, teaching and professional development.

We are looking for you who in your practice

  • Takes a professionally curious position and constructively nuances and challenges existing understandings and perspectives.
  • Establishes constructive collaborations with people who have different professional perspectives, interests and understandings of an issue.
  • Analyzes and is able to investigate complex issues from several perspectives, identify connections and translate analyses into concrete courses of action.
  • Creates clear and targeted communication, both orally and in writing, that can adapt dissemination to different audiences to create understanding, buy-in and engagement.
  • Moves smoothly between the concrete and the overarching – both to delve into complex citizen cases and at the same time see the organizational, professional and methodological perspectives that reach beyond the individual case.
  • Works in a practice-oriented manner and will be present where tasks and needs arise – both at SUA's services and with external partners.

What we can offer you

  • A thorough introduction to the tasks, the target group and the professional approach, as well as a good introduction to the organization and your upcoming collaborators.
  • A varied and flexible workday with great autonomy, influence and professional challenges.
  • Possibility for home office by agreement and with regard to the nature of the tasks and the need for joint task solving.
  • A professionally engaged work community, where we prioritize good relationships, humor, knowledge sharing and room for professional discussions and different perspectives.
  • A position with the opportunity to influence both the task solution and the professional development within the area.
