Teacher for Hals School - Hals School Focus Class, fixed-term position.

Hals School's Focus Class needs an engaged teacher until 25 June 2027

We are seeking a trained teacher who can see themselves teaching in a lower primary/middle grades class in our Focus Class in a fixed-term position with 30 hours per week and with start as soon as possible or from 1 December 2026.

You have special education competence and a willingness to join a team with an exciting and diverse daily life.

We are looking for a teacher who primarily has mathematics as a major subject. In addition, someone who is scientifically oriented. You should have a practical, musical approach, as much learning needs to be incorporated through play.

You will work together with a fixed team, where you are responsible for all planning, implementation and evaluation of the teaching for your group of students of about 10 children. If you are not teaching, you have a supporting role where you help create calm, have conversations with students or carry out other pedagogical activities with the students who for one reason or another cannot participate in the teaching.

The students attend every day from 8 AM to 1 PM. We do not have a traditional school timetable, but we instead work based on the students' individual academic level.

After 10 o'clock we have project/topic-based teaching, focusing on collaboration, community and practice-oriented teaching. In topic teaching, different subjects are linked so that one works from common goals in several different subjects at the same time.

Much work is done to create practical, alternative and movement-oriented teaching, just as social training is a large part of daily life. You are therefore welcome to have experience with alternative teaching, or to have a strong desire to develop in this field.

We are seeking a teacher who can contribute with competencies and knowledge in

• Subject-specific teaching primarily in Mathematics, NT, Visual Arts and HD.
• Addressing the learning needs of cognitively strong students.
• If you have knowledge of working with dyslexic students, it would be an advantage.
• Translate to creative and playful learning processes
• The target group in Focus Class.
• Close parental collaboration, which may have its own challenges
• Neuro-pedagogy and low arousal
• Social-cognitive development disorders
• Not physically impeded, as the work requires substantial physical stamina.

We are looking for a person who thrives in working with children, who calls for energy, warmth, humor, structure, professionalism and trust, even when the children's behavior challenges.

Hals School covers the Hals and Hou departments. In total we have about 250 students and just over 60 staff.

In Aalborg Municipality we have Focus Classes, where students from a wide range of backgrounds, including autism, ADHD/ADD, G-classes and other similar challenges, are admitted. In the Focus Class at Hals School there are currently 43 students.

The students are currently divided into 2 main groups. This is a mix of age, diagnosis and cognitive level. Each of these 2 main groups is further divided into smaller groups of children.

The student group consists of students with complex issues, and they have challenges such as concentration, attention, motor skills, sensory processing, social-cognitive challenges and communication. The students can appear very mentally vulnerable, and they often show signs of psychological strain such as stress, anxiety/restlessness, outbursts, school refusal, or withdrawal from social communities.

The students need an acknowledging special pedagogical approach that is holistic and based on the student's resources and already achieved competencies. We always work from a resource-oriented view of the child based on neuro-pedagogy, where we look behind behavior, consider the student's strengths, and try to base our approach on these to promote development both academically, socially and personally.

Hals School is a school with new furniture and teaching environments across the school and Dussen. We have optimal outdoor areas for alternative teaching, with animals, a large covered outdoor area with power, wifi and water as well as adjacent river, forest and open meadow areas. In addition, we are close to the sea, beach and harbour, which we often use in teaching contexts.
