About the job

Do you want to work with law that matters for society's security and resilience? Are you interested in administrative law and eager to work with legal issues at the intersection of security, emergency preparedness and the exercise of authority? Then you may be our new colleague in the Danish Transport Authority's Office for Security and Cyber.

The transport sector is an important part of the nation's critical infrastructure. In a time with a changed threat landscape and an increased focus on societal security, the Danish Transport Authority plays a central role in strengthening the transport sector's security, resilience and preparedness.

We are looking for a jurist who wishes to contribute to this work. You will work with both concrete legal case handling and broader legal issues within the cyber and preparedness area, where regulation, supervisory tasks and cross-sector collaboration are continually developing. You will become part of an office with different professional backgrounds, where we value collaboration, professional sparring and good solutions.

Welcome to the Office for Security and Cyber

You will become part of an office that works with some of the central security challenges in the transport sector. Among other things, we are responsible for regulation and supervision in the aviation security area, maritime security as well as the cyber- and preparedness area.

We work in a professional environment where jurists, generalists and staff with technical and operational competencies collaborate on the tasks. This provides an opportunity to gain insight into different areas and develop yourself both as a lawyer and as a public official.

We place emphasis on high professional standards and proper administration, but also on maintaining a friendly and informal tone. We help each other, share our knowledge and prioritize that there is room for both professional discussion and a good collegial community.

With us you get

  • A meaningful job with current societal and security-related issues.
  • A varied daily life with both concrete case handling and legal development tasks.
  • Good opportunities for professional development and, in time, to work with several legal areas.
  • Dedicated colleagues and strong interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • A flexible workplace where we emphasise a good balance between work life and leisure.

Your duties

Initially, you will work within two central areas in the office: the cyber-/preparedness area and the case handling of security clearances.

In the cyber and preparedness area you as a jurist will join the team that works to strengthen security and resilience in the transport sector. The unit handles, among other things, the authority's participation in NOST on behalf of the transport sector and works with cross-cutting issues related to resilience in the sector.

This applies especially to the management of the NIS2 law (network and information security) and the CER law (critical entities’ resilience), where you will assist with legal sparring in a broad sense as well as specifically with the newly established supervision. This includes tasks related to handling legal consultations, access to information and legal sparring and dialogue about the authority's NIS2- and CER-supervision both internally with the supervision team and externally in the cross-agency collaboration.

It is expected, among other things, that the authority will draft a regulation regarding the implementation of the CER law.

At the same time you will play an important role in the legal case handling of security clearances. The Authority has a strongly anchored practice in this area, and together with experienced colleagues you will handle legal case processing of applications for security clearance from both the aviation sector and internally from the Authority.

Your tasks will include

  • Legal advisory and sparring on questions concerning the national preparedness and societal security in the transport sector.
  • Legal support for the Danish Transport Authority's administration and supervision under the NIS2- and CER rules.
  • Legal case handling of security clearances, including drafting decisions and legal assessments.
  • Interpretation of Danish law and EU regulations as well as contribution to the preparation of guidelines and development of authority practice.
  • Collaboration with colleagues across professional areas and with other authorities on legal and cross-cutting issues.

In the beginning, the work with security clearances will occupy a substantial part of your day. As you gain experience and familiarity with the office's tasks, we expect you to have the opportunity to devote a larger portion of your time to the cyber- and preparedness area. Both areas will continue to be part of your workload.

In the longer term there will also be good opportunities to develop your competences and work with other parts of the office's tasks, including regulation and supervision of security (security) within aviation. This will give you the opportunity to build a broad legal profile within public administration, security regulation and EU-law.

Who are you?

We imagine that you are trained as cand.jur. and have an interest in administrative law and in working in a politically governed organisation. You may be recently graduated or have a few years of experience. The most important for us is that you have a solid legal understanding, are curious about new areas and want to develop yourself in working with complex issues.

We particularly value that you

  • Have an interest in administrative law and good public administration.
  • Work in a structured and analytical way and have an eye for both legal details and the bigger picture.
  • Can express yourself clearly and precisely in writing and speaking.
  • Are responsible and have a good understanding of the importance of confidentiality and security in task execution.
  • Thrive in collaboration with people with different professional backgrounds and contribute to common solutions.
  • Want to learn new things and gradually take on greater responsibility and more complex tasks.

It is an advantage if you have knowledge of administrative law, EU-law or the security and preparedness area, but it is not a prerequisite. We ensure that you receive a good introduction to the tasks and the necessary professional sparring along the way.

The small print

The position is a permanent 37-hour contract. Employment is in accordance with the Circular on the State Academic Agreement (AC Agreement).
