About the job

Do you want to help ensure that Copenhagen housing is used legally and as intended?

Are you passionate about legal case handling – and would you like to help start something new in an area with strong political focus?

Then we have an exciting opportunity for you.

About the position

We are looking for a lawyer for our new Housing Patrol, which shall ensure that housing in Copenhagen is rented out and used in accordance with applicable rules. You will become part of a newly established team, where you will have the opportunity to influence workflows and practices from the start.

Your tasks will include, among others

  • develop and quality-assure the case processing in the Housing Patrol
  • work with both special legislation and administrative law
  • spare with colleagues and contribute to decisions in complex cases
  • be involved in defining what grounds are needed to make a decision
  • prepare and implement new legislation, e.g., in connection with administrative fines
  • collaborate with lawyers and caseworkers in other administrations and authorities
  • take responsibility for your own cases, including appeals and decisions
  • prepare practice notes, guidelines and other tools
  • contribute with legal input to political proposals and responses to inquiries from citizens and businesses.

About the team and the unit

The Housing Patrol will be established as an independent team as of 1 January 2027 under the Enforcement/Legalization unit handling all cases of illegal construction. The unit will thereafter consist of five teams plus administrative staff, two unit managers and two subject coordinators. You will be attached to the Housing Patrol but collaborate closely with the other lawyers in the Building Area.

About you

We imagine that you

  • have a Master of Law degree (cand.jur. or cand.merc.jur.)
  • have knowledge of administrative law and legal case processing, including assessment of case information and drafting decisions
  • can translate law into concrete practice and develop usable tools for case handling
  • have good communication skills both orally and in writing and can convey legal matters to non-lawyers
  • have experience giving legal input to political proposals
  • are a team player who thrives in interdisciplinary collaboration and sparring
  • are quality-conscious and solution-oriented within the legal framework
  • can work independently, efficiently and in a structured way.

Knowledge of the Planning and Building Act, the Building Regs, the Housing Conditions Act and the Summer House Act is an advantage, but not a requirement.

We offer

  • a workplace that values the balance between work life and private life
  • flex time and the possibility of remote work when tasks allow
  • an informal and engaged work environment in an open-plan office where we help and spar with each other
  • colleagues with diverse backgrounds, where cross-functional collaboration is an important part of everyday life.

Salary and terms of employment

Salary and terms follow the collective agreement for academics employed in municipalities and within the framework of local pay formation. Employment as a senior consultant is possible if you have relevant experience and qualifications. The work location is Njalsgade 13 in Copenhagen S.

Contact

If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact unit manager Eliane Hove at 24 40 43 63 or subject coordinator Rasmus Christensen at 21 25 44 84.

We look forward to receiving your application, in which you describe your motivation for the job, and how you think quick, efficient and correct legal case processing can be ensured.

Apply via the link no later than Wednesday 2 December 2026

We expect to hold interviews in week 50.
