About the job

Amager Hospital is seeking a fixed-term position for a specialist physician for our Emergency Clinic with start on 1-1-27 or as agreed. The vacancy extends to 31-5-27 and is thus five months long.

The Emergency Clinic includes medical reception, the casualty ward, the on-call medical service and an observation ward with 15 beds. The position is with work only in the reception and the observation ward, not in the casualty ward or the on-call medical service.

The Emergency Clinic is part of the Department of Lung, Hormone and Metabolic Diseases, which is distributed across both Amager and Hvidovre Hospital. On Amager there is in addition to the Emergency Clinic a Respiratory Medicine and Endocrinology section, which has a 20-bed inpatient unit and ambulatory function at both the Amager and Hvidovre campuses. We admit to and also collaborate closely with both the cardiology and geriatric departments at Amager Hospital.

In our medical reception triage, examination and treatment of acute medical patients are handled, who are referred via 1813, CVI and 1-1-2. The patient groups fall within a wide range of medical specialties. The department is characterized by close interdisciplinary collaboration, which is especially close due to the Emergency Clinic's smaller size compared to larger emergency hospitals. There is high flow, with about 700 weekly patient contacts.

Patients are referred around the clock from the medical reception to the hospital’s inpatient wards, and the close collaboration with the inpatient wards is highly valued. The casualty ward is covered by a separate group of doctors, both permanently employed and hourly paid consultants. The on-call medical service is covered by hourly paid consultants.

The Emergency Section consists of 1 chief consultant and 5 specialist doctors. In addition, there are 25 resident doctors in HU, introduction and KBU programs.

In addition to the emergency section, the department has an endocrinology section on the Amager campus with 4 specialists and a varying number of pulmonologists from Hvidovre.

Both the endocrinology and the emergency section each have a designated supervising chief physician.

As a specialist physician in the Emergency Section you will be responsible for working on

  • Development and maintenance of high professional standards and relevant competencies among physicians functioning in the emergency area
  • Reception, treatment, coordination and flow management in the Emergency Clinic
  • Bedside rounds in the observation ward with 15 beds for short hospital stays
  • Supervision and education of junior doctors
  • Participation in the development of cross-sector cooperation

We expect that you

  • Have solid clinical experience within the acute medical field, preferably a specialty in acute medicine. Since this is a fixed-term vacancy, you may also apply if you are not a specialist physician.
  • Can take responsibility and make decisions
  • Are a good communicator/collaborator
  • Are prepared for shift work
  • Will contribute to a good working environment
  • Can collaborate with multidisciplinary actors involved in the overall acute patient pathway both inside and outside the hospital.

The working hours are 08:00-15:30 and the on-call work is with presence from 08:00-20:00 and then on-call standby from home for the rest of the 24 hours. There is weekend service approximately every 4 weeks. You can currently expect about 3 back-up shifts per month.

We offer: A good working environment with a focus on relationships, professional patient approach and high professional standards, as well as the opportunity to support your personal and professional development.

The position is full-time. Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the applicable collective agreement in the area.

Interested applicants of all genders, ages, religions or other ethnic backgrounds are encouraged to apply for the position.

Application deadline

4-11-26. Interviews are expected to be held on 11-11-26 in the morning.

Terms of employment

The appointment is made in accordance with the recently concluded joint agreement with Danish Regions.
