Ministry of Justice department seeks communications advisor for press and social media

We are looking for a skilled adviser for both press handling and social media. You must help drive an aggressive political communication in the press, and you must be a sharp craftsman with words and images on social media.

The Ministry of Justice's area is constantly in the media spotlight, and cases such as sentencing enhancements, terrorism, espionage, gang crime and much more are high on the public debate agenda.

The Ministry of Justice is responsible for the authorities in the entire justice system from the police, the Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) and the prosecution authorities to the courts, prisons and the oversight of animal welfare.

About the Communications Secretariat

The Communications Secretariat is part of the Policy and Management Secretariat in the Ministry of Justice's department. We support the minister and the department with both external and internal communication. Our tasks primarily consist of press handling, planning of initiatives and long-term strategic communication, but corporate communication, web and social media are also in our portfolio.

You will therefore work closely with the minister, the special advisers and the department's management, and you will also have close dialogue with the department's professional offices. You will also gain a large network in the central administration and among the group’s approx. 22,000 employees.

About the position

We are seeking an adviser for press and social media, who will be tasked with handling the many ongoing media inquiries and planning strategically, proactive political communication. At the same time you will be responsible for producing content for social media, where you must find, angle and produce good stories, whether it’s posts, videos or stories. You will be involved when newspaper front pages are made, and you will be out on the streets when pictures from vulnerable housing areas and the new prisons need to be taken.

It is crucial that you – in addition to being a skilled communicator – also have political acumen, work confidently and quickly under time pressure, can keep track of facts and have an understanding of working in a politically governed organization. About you

You have a relevant educational background. This could be, for example, as a journalist, cand.comm., cand.scient.pol. or similar.

We imagine that you are newly graduated or have a couple of years of experience.

• have well-developed knowledge of press handling and media workflows,
• write well and can create narratives in both words, images and video,
• work in a structured and analytical way and are able to maintain an overview in pressured situations,
• are approachable and friendly,
• have respect for the necessity of quality assurance,
• take responsibility, are persistent and contribute with solution proposals and
• are flexible and prepared for work at odd hours as part of the Communications Secretariat's press duty roster.

Salary and employment conditions

The position is filled on collective agreement terms in accordance with the current academic staff agreement between the Ministry of Finance and academics employed by the state. Depending on your experience you will be placed as either administrator or senior consultant. You will be covered by the Communications Secretariat's press duty scheme and will be remunerated accordingly. In addition there is an employer-financed pension scheme attached to the position at 18.07 percent

The position is desired to be filled on 1 January 2027.

It is a condition of employment that you can obtain security clearance.
