Music Librarian for Special Collections

The Syddansk University Library is seeking a new colleague for the Special Collections Team in the Department of Information Resources at the Syddansk University Library in Odense.

The Department of Information Resources' primary task is the purchase and registration of library materials of all forms and ages, as well as making these accessible to users through the library's systems.

The department is divided into three teams according to tasks, with a total of 20 employees.

The Special Collections Team is the smallest team in the department, where most employees also have other tasks besides those in the team. The team's main tasks are dissemination, registration and preservation of collections. In addition, there are exhibition activities and support for relevant research projects.

We place emphasis on good collegial collaboration - across functions and disciplines. The working environment is informal, with a relaxed and humorous tone, but at the same time with a focus on quality and efficient internal work processes.

Responsibilities include, among other things, the following

• Dissemination of the library's special collections, especially within music
• Planning exhibitions of the materials, e.g. in display cases
• Registration of special collections within music
• Digitization of our special collections within music
• Incorporation of digital files into the digital library archive (Alma Digital)
• Overdub of audio files: a) for users, ongoing – and b) Alma Digital

Qualifications

We emphasize that you

• Have a relevant higher education in musicology or similar academic background
• Work in a structured, systematic and quality-conscious manner
• Are able to work independently and have good collaboration skills
• Have good communication skills, both spoken and written in Danish and English

It is a PLUS if you have

• Experience with archival work and digitization
• Experience with the library systems Alma and Alma Digital

You will receive training in the relevant tasks. The most important thing is that you want to work with disseminating and registering our special collections and participate in, and contribute to, the good collaboration and working environment that we have at the library.

You will conduct your daily work at the university library, which serves the entire Syddansk Universitet. The place of employment is SDUB Odense, but travel to all university campus towns can be expected.

Salary and employment conditions

Employment is offered according to the applicable collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC, as well as negotiations under the Ny Løn principles. Applicants must be prepared to participate in the shift/ public service arrangement that ensures staffing during the library's opening hours.

Salary is determined in accordance with the applicable collective agreement and based on objective and gender-neutral criteria, including the content of the position, responsibilities and qualification requirements.

The position is 30 hours. Start date 4 January 2027.
