About the job

Do you thrive with night shifts and are you motivated by creating safety and stability for our residents? Then you might be our new night guard at Solvang in Glostrup. The position is as a wakeful night guard, and you will always be on duty together with a colleague.

At Solvang we work every day to create opportunities for change for people in vulnerable life situations. Our task is to create a safe and calm place to be, where residents can find their footing and receive support to move on towards a more permanent residence and a life with greater well-being.

Who are we?

Solvang is a §110 facility under the Center for Care and Treatment, which is part of The Social Enterprise in the Capital Region. We have space for 28 residents.

We offer temporary accommodation to adult people who are homeless or unable to stay in their own housing. The residents often have various social challenges and may also have mental health challenges and/or problematic use of substances.

We are 19 dedicated employees with different social-professional backgrounds. We actively use our different professional approaches and place emphasis on helping each other and creating a good everyday life for both residents and colleagues.

We work from Housing First and Recovery, where contact with the individual resident is important. We believe that people can develop, and that through a respectful, curious and acknowledging approach we can help support the individual to move forward.

We have a number of partners, including psychiatry, job counselors, municipalities and our own §85a support corps.

Your tasks

You will among other things be required to

  • Create safety and calm for residents in the evening and night hours
  • Be available for support and guidance as needed
  • Document relevant information and interventions
  • Contribute to a good transition between evening, night and day shifts
  • Take care of practical operational tasks that help the house run, including light cleaning and other practical tasks.

The night guard’s primary task is to ensure calm, safety and stability for the residents. You will be present if a resident needs a chat or support, and you must be able to handle situations that arise in a calm and professional manner.

We imagine that you

  • Have experience with and/or a desire for night work
  • Would preferably have a social-pedagogical or social-professional background
  • Have an interest in people in vulnerable positions and preferably experience with the target group
  • Want to work relationally and pedagogically with people with different needs
  • Can meet residents with respect, tolerance, clarity and a positive view of people
  • Can be present and create calm – even when a situation becomes difficult
  • Have professional engagement and a professional approach to residents and colleagues
  • Have good writing skills and can document relevant observations
  • Have overview and can act independently
  • Can take responsibility for both pedagogical and practical tasks
  • Thrive with the night shift also including various operational and practical tasks

It is advantageous if you have experience with NADA, Recovery, MI (Motivational Interviewing), but it is not required.

We place value on your ability to reflect on your own practice and to assess when you should act yourself and when a situation should be handed over to colleagues or partners.

We offer

  • An exciting and meaningful job where you can make a difference for people in a difficult life situation
  • An workplace where contact, presence and pedagogy are important parts of everyday life
  • Accountability for your own tasks and the opportunity to help shape how we solve them
  • A colleague group with extensive knowledge and experience in the social field
  • An organization focused on professionalism, development and learning
  • A good collegial community with room for open dialogue, humor and different perspectives
  • An workplace where we help each other and focus on both residents and the working environment

Center for Care and Treatment

We consist of

  • Homelessness Initiative , where we have three §110 facilities: Skansegården, Solvang and a youth facility in Birkerød. We have a total of 120 beds for citizens affected by homelessness. In addition, we have §85a support pathways, where we work with CTI and ICM with citizens moving into their own housing
  • Treatment , where we offer outpatient substance abuse treatment for citizens with substance and alcohol dependencies. We have two outpatient clinics located in Hillerød and Hørsholm
  • ANT courses – Alcohol, Drugs and Traffic – for citizens who have received a driving ban or a conditional or unconditional revocation of their driving license
  • Course company , where we offer courses targeted at the social-pedagogical and educational field, including courses in cognitive and narrative methods as well as courses in MI (Motivational Interviewing)

We focus on several different professional perspectives on the life the individual citizen faces. We work both with substance abuse treatment, social-pedagogical initiatives and support for citizens affected by homelessness. We believe in the value of close collaboration across disciplines and with municipalities, psychiatry, hospitals and other partners. In this way we can help create a more holistic effort around the individual citizen.
