About the job
Do you want to help ensure good financial management of projects that make a difference for nature, climate and the environment?
We are looking for a skilled and engaged environmental economist who wants to work with project economics and help ensure that our projects are implemented on a solid economic foundation. As an environmental economist you will be an important sparring partner for project managers and professional colleagues. You will play a central role in creating an overview of the finances in the projects, follow up on consumption and budgets, and support that financial decisions are made on well-informed grounds.
Join the Nature Projects Unit
You will become part of a unit at the Danish Nature Agency's headquarters in the scenic Randbøl between Vejle and Billund. The unit is responsible for portfolio management of low-lying and wetland projects where agricultural land is taken to benefit climate and water environment. The projects are implemented on private land in close collaboration with Nature Agency's 16 local units.
We are a relatively new unit, spread over two teams, with different professional backgrounds, including lawyers, economists and agricultural specialists.
Your tasks
You will among other things
- Take care of the financial follow-up on a portfolio of projects
- Prepare budgets, forecasts and financial follow-ups
- Keep project finances close and identify deviations and financial risks
- Advise and spar with project managers on financial management and financial dispositions
- Contribute to financial assessments in connection with new projects and project changes
- Prepare project-relevant environmental economic analyses and decision papers
- Prepare and support reporting to management and relevant partners
- Contribute to developing and professionalizing the Nature Agency's work with project economics
You will have a wide interface with the organization and work closely with both project managers, financial staff and professional specialists.
Who are you?
You hold a degree in environmental economics (cand.scient.oecon) with an interest in environmental and project economic issues.
Just as it is important that you
- Have strong economic and analytical skills
- Work in a structured way and have an eye for both details and the big picture
- Can analyze economic issues and translate them into concrete recommendations
- Are good at collaborating and creating constructive dialogue with project managers and professional colleagues
- Can communicate economics in a way that is understandable to colleagues without an economic background
- Takes responsibility for your tasks and follow them through.
It is an advantage if you have experience with project economics, financial management or working in a public organization, but it is not a requirement.
A workplace with meaning
At the Nature Agency you will be part of a nationwide public agency that works to manage Denmark's natural heritage, counter climate change and improve the water environment.
As an environmental economist you will have the opportunity to use your economic skills in an organization where the work has a concrete impact on nature, climate and society. You will become part of a professional environment where economics does not stand alone but is integrated in close interaction with natural sciences, project management and authority tasks.
We offer
- A meaningful job with great social significance
- A central role in the financial management of exciting nature projects
- A broad interface and close collaboration with skilled professionals
- Opportunities to develop your skills in project economics and public financial management
- A workplace focused on professionalism, collaboration and well-being
