About the job

The Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy at Sygehus Sønderjylland is seeking occupational therapists and physiotherapists for a new, exciting role at the Health and Care Place (SOP) in Tønder.

We are looking for you who enjoy working closely with citizens in an interprofessional practice community where training and rehabilitation are an integrated part of everyday life – and where you help build something new together with both the hospital and the municipality.

SOP Tønder is a service to citizens with complex somatic and functional issues who need a shorter, targeted course after hospitalization or during an acute deterioration. The citizens typically have orthopedic, medical, geriatric, neurological or surgical challenges – and a clear need for mobilization, rehabilitation and recovery.

As a therapist at SOP Tønder you will be part of

  • a new, local interprofessional team with doctors, nurses, health care assistants (SSA’er) and management at SOP
  • a monodisciplinary community in the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy at Sygehus Sønderjylland
  • a consolidated SOP training team across the other SOP units in the region

We work according to Sygehus Sønderjylland's principles for new workflows: proximity to the citizen, timely preparation and documentation, and close interprofessional collaboration – combined with the national quality standards for health and care places, where systematic functional assessment, holistic rehabilitation and coherent pathways are central.

You can shorten it down like this and still capture the key points

As a therapist at SOP Tønder you will have a combined mono-, multi- and interprofessional role.

Monodisciplinary you will

  • assess citizens’ functional capacity at “admission” and continuously throughout the course
  • plan and implement individually tailored training and rehabilitation programs, where training is integrated into daily activities
  • assess and adapt relevant aids and treatment tools
  • develop rehabilitation plans and document in EPJ‑SYD in a timely manner – often directly on the ward together with the citizen.

Multidisciplinary you will work closely with nurses and health care assistants on mobilization, transfers and ADL activities and participate in board meetings and other meeting forums, where you collectively prioritise and plan the effort for the day’s citizens.

Interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration you will have with municipal training and rehabilitation units, home care and general practitioners to ensure coherent pathways and help ensure there are no “training pauses” between hospital, SOP and municipal services.

Practice community and work culture

An essential part of the role is to participate in and help develop a practice community at SOP Tønder, where:

  • you clock in together and plan the day collectively
  • you sit, work and solve tasks together based on the citizen’s needs – not within narrow professional boundaries
  • monodisciplinary tasks, health-care tasks and more general everyday tasks (such as helping a citizen to the dining room or tidying up after a training session) fit together around a common task.

The relationship with citizens and collaboration with colleagues are valued as highly as individual professional qualifications. The citizen’s situation and wishes are the common frame of reference.

We are seeking licensed occupational therapists and physiotherapists who have clinical experience (preferably with older medical, orthopedic, geriatric or neurological citizens), can work independently and in a structured way and thrive in close interprofessional collaboration. You enjoy working close to the citizen with active involvement of the citizen and relatives and are motivated to help build a new function. You are curious about other professionals’ perspectives and naturally contribute to a work culture where everyone helps each other across disciplines.

It is an advantage if you have experience from subacute rehabilitation programs, familiarity with EPJ‑SYD and are used to working with function and ICF as a framework for assessment and planning.

We offer a central role in building a new therapeutic function at SOP Tønder, a strong monodisciplinary environment in the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy at Sygehus Sønderjylland and close interprofessional collaboration with the SOP team, where you become an integrated part of the local staff group. You will have good opportunities for professional development, internal training and participation in improvement work as well as real influence on how workflows, meeting structures and practice communities are organized.

There are 3–4 therapists to be based at SOP Tønder in Løgumkloster. There will be weekend shifts planned after further agreement. Start date 1 January 2027 or by agreement.

The region is obliged to inform you of the starting salary for the position. You will be told the base salary, centrally set allowances and pension in the collective agreement for Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Midwives (collective agreement 33.21.1). In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications. See starting salaries for positions in Region Southern Denmark.

If you have questions about the position or the function, you are welcome to contact: Chief Therapist, René Bender Jørgensen, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, Sygehus Sønderjylland, tel. 40241179 or [email protected]

Send your application with CV no later than Wednesday, 18 November. We expect to conduct recruitment interviews in week 48.
