About the job

Do you want to use your occupational therapy professional expertise to help create strong rehabilitation pathways? Do you thrive with complex pathways and strong interdisciplinary collaboration? And are you keen to help shape a new regional offering in Borgernær Health? If so, you’re the one we’re looking for. We are seeking an engaged and professionally strong occupational therapist for the new health and care placements under Borgernær Health at Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospital.

Here you get a unique opportunity to put your professional imprint on the occupational therapy effort, and to help shape the future citizen-centered rehabilitation in collaboration with other professional groups.

A job where your occupational therapy contribution makes a difference At the health and care placements you will meet citizens who need a health professional input that does not require hospital admission, but which cannot reasonably be handled in their own home either. This can include, among other things, older citizens and citizens with multiple concurrent illnesses, acute deterioration of a known disease or reduced functional ability after a hospital stay.

You will have a daily life where you work independently while also being part of an interdisciplinary team.

You will, among other things, have to

  • examine and assess citizens’ activity and functional ability as well as rehabilitation needs
  • plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions
  • work purposefully with ADL, activity training, cognitive functions, swallowing problems and the greatest possible independence
  • support citizens’ opportunities to maintain or regain activity and functional ability and to return to their own home or a suitable housing form
  • assess the need for aids and compensatory strategies
  • collaborate with care staff to integrate activity and rehabilitation into daily routines and care situations
  • contribute to common goals and plans together with the citizen, relatives and relevant professional groups
  • contribute to coordination and good transitions between health and care placements, the hospital, the municipality and the citizen’s home
  • contribute to the development of professional practice, workflows and quality in the new offering

Be part of building something new As a consequence of the health reform, from January 1, 2027, the regions will take responsibility for the health and care placements. At Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospital the new clinical department Borgernær Health is under development. The aim is to create a more nearby, coherent and equal health service, where citizens experience continuity in their pathways, and where the right competencies are available at the right time.

Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospital will establish 40 placements in Esbjerg Municipality, of which 30 placements in Esbjerg and 10 in Bramming. Here nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists as well as social and health care assistants work closely together.

You will have the opportunity to contribute to developing both the occupational therapy practice and the shared workflows. Our common goal is to help the citizen best return to their own life with dignity, efficient pathways and high professional standards – with the citizen as an active participant.

We ensure you are not standing alone We know that starting something new takes effort. Therefore we offer:

  • thorough onboarding and introduction to tasks and workflows
  • ongoing competency development and opportunities for professional and personal development
  • influence on workflows, culture and the development of the new department
  • a strong interdisciplinary community with engaged colleagues, high professional standards and a focus on collaboration
  • a workplace with a focus on dialogue, inclusion, well-being and a good working environment
  • a meaningful workplace where you contribute to better and more coherent citizen pathways

Who are you? We are seeking an occupational therapist who

  • has broad occupational therapy experience and a desire to work with citizens from different specialties
  • has strong professional and analytical competencies
  • has experience with assessment of activity and functional ability as well as rehabilitation needs
  • works rehabilitatively and sees opportunities rather than limitations
  • can work independently, prioritize tasks and make decisions
  • is an engaged team player and contributes to the community
  • communicates clearly and respectfully and can build trust and security for citizens and relatives
  • thrives with interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration
  • is keen on professional development and to help develop a new department
  • understands that a good working environment is created together

You do not need to be able to do everything from day one. The most important thing is that you have the desire and commitment to join in.

Employment terms The position is 37 hours per week with start on January 1, 2027. Working hours will include day shifts on weekends.

Salary and employment terms follow the collective agreement between the Occupational Therapy Association and Danish Regions. The region is obliged to inform you of the starting salary for the position. You will be informed of base salary, centrally fixed allowances and pension in Agreement for Non-Lead Personnel in the Health Cartel area 32.17.1 - salary as of 1.4.2026 . In addition to the starting salary, the salary may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
