About the job

Do you want to use your occupational therapy expertise to help create strong rehabilitation pathways? Do you thrive with complex pathways and strong interdisciplinary collaboration? And would you like to help shape a new regional offering in Citizen-Centered Health? Then you are the person we are looking for.

We are looking for an engaged and professionally strong occupational therapist for the new health and care placements under Citizen-Centered Health at Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospital. Here you get a unique opportunity to leave your professional mark on the occupational therapy effort, and to help shape the future citizen-centered rehabilitation in collaboration with other professional groups.

A job where your occupational therapy work makes a difference At the health and care placements you will meet citizens who need a health-professional input that does not require hospital admission, but that also cannot be adequately managed in their own home. This can include, for example, older citizens and citizens with multiple chronic conditions, acute deterioration of known illness or reduced function following a hospital stay.

You will have a daily life where you work independently and at the same time are part of an interdisciplinary team.

You will among other things

  • examine and assess citizens' activity and functional capacity as well as rehabilitation needs
  • plan, implement and evaluate occupational therapy interventions
  • work purposefully with ADL, activity training, cognitive functions, swallowing difficulties and as much independence as possible
  • support citizens' possibilities to maintain or regain activity and functional ability and to return to their own home or a suitable form of housing
  • assess need for aids and compensatory strategies
  • collaborate with care staff to integrate activity and rehabilitation into daily routines and care situations
  • contribute to shared goals and plans together with the citizen, relatives and relevant professional groups
  • contribute to coordination and good transitions between the health and care placements, the hospital, the municipality and the citizen's home
  • contribute to the development of professional practice, workflows and quality in the new offering

Be part of building something new As a result of the health reform, the regions will from 1 January 2027 assume responsibility for health and care placements. At Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospital, the new clinical department Citizen-Centered Health is under development. The aim is to create a more nearby, coherent and equal health system, where citizens experience coherence in their pathways, and where the right competencies are present at the right time.

Esbjerg and Grindsted Hospital will establish 21 placements in Vejen Municipality, of which 11 placements in Vejen and 10 in Brørup. Here nurses, doctors, physiotherapists and occupational therapists, as well as social and health care assistants, work closely together.

You will have the opportunity to help develop both the occupational therapy input and the common workflows. Our shared goal is to help the citizen return to their own life with dignity, efficient pathways and high professional standards – with the citizen as an active participant.

We ensure you are not standing alone

We know that starting something new takes effort. Therefore we offer

  • comprehensive onboarding and introduction to tasks and workflows
  • ongoing competence development and opportunities for professional and personal growth
  • influence on workflows, culture and development of the new department
  • a strong interdisciplinary community with engaged colleagues, high professionalism and focus on collaboration
  • a workplace focused on dialogue, inclusion, well-being and a good work environment
  • a meaningful workplace where you contribute to better and more coherent citizen pathways

Who are you? We are looking for an occupational therapist who

  • has broad occupational therapy experience and is eager to work with citizens from different specialties
  • has strong professional and analytical skills
  • has experience with assessment of activity and functional capacity as well as rehabilitation needs
  • works rehabilitatively and sees possibilities rather than limitations
  • can work independently, prioritize tasks and make decisions
  • is a dedicated team player and contributes to the community
  • communicates clearly and respectfully and can create trust and security for citizens and relatives
  • thrives with interdisciplinary and cross-sector collaboration
  • is keen on professional development and to help develop a new department
  • understands that a good work environment is created together

You do not need to be able to do everything from day one. The most important is that you have the desire and commitment to be part of it.

Employment terms The position is 37 hours per week with start 1 January 2027. Working hours will include daytime shifts on weekends.

Salary and employment terms follow the collective agreement between the Danish Association of Occupational Therapists and Danish Regions. The region is obligated to inform you of the starting salary for the position. You will be informed of base salary, centrally set allowances and pension in Agreement for Non-Management staff in the Health Cartel area 32.17.1 - salary as of 1.4.2026 . In addition to the starting salary, the pay may include any negotiated allowances depending on the position, your experience and qualifications.
