About the job

Now is the time you have the opportunity to try whether rotating shifts in an emergency department are something for you.

Would you like a job that isn’t about long duty rosters, diagnostic and treatment guarantees and the same hamster wheel every day, but instead want to be in an emergency department together with a fantastic team of nurses, doctors, and others, then you now have the opportunity to become a medical secretary/health administrative coordinator in the Fælles Akutmodtagelse FAM.

The department operates around the clock, every day of the week, all year round and no day is the same. The secretary function is staffed around the clock, and we therefore work in rotating shifts with weekend shifts every 2nd or 3rd weekend. We are now looking for a medical secretary/health administrative coordinator for a 1-year maternity cover 30-37 hours per week from January 1, 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter.

We help cover for holidays and illness, which from time to time is with short notice, but everyone is very flexible and is happy to help each other swap shifts when the need arises.

We work across professional boundaries and our tasks include

  • Reception and registration of walking patients in the reception
  • Reception and registration of patients who arrive by ambulance
  • Hospital admission, transfer and discharge of patients
  • Journaling
  • Participation in trauma and medical emergency calls
  • Answering telephone inquiries from patients, relatives and other collaborators
  • Handling of conference calls
  • Booking of subacute appointments in several specialties
  • Physical participation in radiology conference and subsequent handling of it

Maybe you’re wondering if "rotating shifts" are for you? Some of the advantages you can read here:

  • You avoid reporting in from the shifts from yesterday
  • You will experience a varied workday that changes with the daily rhythm
  • You can sleep longer in the morning
  • You can have weekday free time, enjoy coffee and have private time
  • You can go home with a good conscience because you are being substituted by a colleague who takes over the tasks
  • Pick up the children early or drop them off late

We expect that you

  • Are educated as a medical secretary or health administrative coordinator (non-negotiable requirement)
  • Can function in a sometimes hectic and unpredictable environment
  • Have focus on making the most of the medical secretary skills resources
  • Are positive and meet our patients, colleagues and other partners with empathy and a smile
  • Are good at collaborating and communicating even in tense situations
  • Contribute to a good psychological working environment in the department
  • Have an empathic sense of what is at stake in the situation and what demands are placed on you
  • Thrive with rotating shifts and are willing to step in when urgent needs arise

We offer

  • An exciting job with many challenges
  • An open and positive working environment where we get along and pull together
  • A department that places a high value on the psychological work environment
  • Competent, engaged and experienced colleagues
  • An exciting specialty in development
  • A department with a psychological readiness
  • Good onboarding

Why should you join us?

We love welcoming new colleagues to FAM. Therefore we also have a well-planned introduction and training program so you get a solid understanding of all functions, colleagues and FAM. We are very aware that a good working environment goes hand in hand with a good workplace. There is an opportunity to develop and take further education such as health communication. In addition, we have mandatory internal courses in emergency call training, trauma team training, and the good conversation.

If you have questions

If you want to know more about the position you are welcome to contact Secretariat Manager Trine Malec at tel. 2362 3197 or send an email to [email protected] . If you have questions for our secretaries in FAM this can of course be arranged.

Application deadline Thursday, November 19, 2026 . Interviews are expected to be held in week 48.

We look forward to hearing from you.
