Organist/church musician sought for Lomborg-Rom and Dybe-Ramme Parish Council

Would you like to help set music to life in our four churches?

We are seeking an organist/church musician with a starting date of 1 January or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is 14 hours per week.

About the parishes

Lomborg-Rom, Dybe and Ramme are three rural parishes in West Jutland, where the churches are a natural part of the local community. We have a good and close collaboration between the priest, staff, parish council and volunteers, and we emphasize that the churches are good places to be – both for worship and for life’s major events.

The position

We are fond of our churches and of the music that belongs to the service. Therefore we are looking for an organist/church musician who would like to become part of our church life and contribute to shaping the worship, other church activities and events.

Your duties will include, among others

• playing at worship services and religious ceremonies such as baptisms, weddings, funerals and cremations
• playing at special worship services and church holidays
• participating in individual parish events by arrangement
• collaborating with the priest, church singers, other staff and the parish council on worship services and church activities

We are looking for someone who

• has a church music education or equivalent qualifications
• wants to play for worship services and religious ceremonies
• has knowledge of the Church of Denmark’s worship and liturgy
• puts emphasis on good and secure song leading
• can work independently while also being able to collaborate well with the priest, church singers, other staff, parish council and volunteers and use your professional skills for the benefit of church life
• meets people in a friendly and welcoming manner
• is flexible regarding working hours, as the work naturally includes Sundays, holidays and church activities on weekdays

It is a condition that you have a driver’s license and a car and are prepared to drive between the four churches.

Salary and terms of employment

Hiring of a church musician will be covered by the collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and CO10 and the organizational agreement between the Ministry of Towns, Rural Areas and the Church and CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 for church functionaries with core tasks such as parish clerk, church and cultural worker or church musician, plus the associated protocol for church musicians.

Hiring of a trained organist will be covered by the Agreement between the Ministry of Towns, Rural Areas and the Church, CO10 – Central Organization of 2010 and the Danish Organist and Cantor Society (DOKS) for organists.

Hiring of organists with a church music bachelor’s or master’s degree (DOKS) is done according to the applicable protocol for DOKS organists.

Current civil service organists have the right to maintain their civil service status upon appointment with direct transition. In that case, the position must be classified.

Applicants with a degree in organ and choral conducting (formerly PO organist)

The annual salary for applicants with a degree in organ and choral conducting (formerly PO organist) is agreed according to the agreed basic pay system. Basic step 1 amounts to 350,435 DKK annually (current prices) and basic pay step 2 amounts to 368,189 DKK annually (current prices). Placement occurs according to seniority. There is a time-of-service obligation in the position. The time-of-service allowance amounts to 44,944.10 DKK annually (current prices) for service at 4–6 churches.

Applicants who are church musicians

The annual salary for a church musician is set within the interval 333,748 DKK – 475,590 DKK (current prices). There is a time-of-service obligation in the position. The time-of-service allowance is 27,641.26 DKK annually. OK allowance of 1,082.22 DKK (current prices)

An agreement on placement within the salary range is made between the parish council and the Danish Church Musician Association before employment.

Applicants with a church music education (DOKS)

The annual salary for applicants with a church music bachelor’s or master’s degree (DOKS) is agreed according to the new pay-AC scale. For bachelor graduates, gross salary is between 332,306.00 - 417,156.00 DKK annually (current prices). For master graduates, gross salary is between 363,169.00 - 442,529.00 DKK annually (current prices). The obligatory time-of-service allowance is paid. The time-of-service allowance is between 46,726.59 DKK – 72,572.63 DKK annually (current prices). Placement and time-of-service allowance are awarded according to seniority.

Salary, time-of-service allowance and any OK allowances are to be prorated in accordance with the position’s employment fraction (14/37).
