About the job

Educational consultant for IAS PBL Educational Development (IAS PBL ED)

Do you want to help shape the future of university pedagogical competence development at Aalborg University? As an educational consultant in IAS PBL Educational Development (IAS PBL ED) you will be responsible for developing and delivering research-based offerings for teachers and educational leaders across AAU.

You will become part of building a strategically prioritized area and will have the opportunity to translate research, organizational needs, and experiences from teaching environments into concrete courses, workshops, and development programs.

A central focus area in the position is AI in education. You will contribute to collecting, qualifying, and communicating research-based knowledge about AI and translate this into practice-oriented competence development activities for teachers and educational leaders.

About the position

You will be responsible for developing and delivering competence development activities and act as a bridge between IAS PBL ED and AAU's research and educational environments. You will work proactively, identify needs and trends, and translate them into relevant offerings in close collaboration with researchers within, among other things, university pedagogy, PBL, teaching, learning, and digital didactics.

Your tasks

  • Develop and implement: research-based courses, workshops, and longer development programs for teachers and educational leaders – alone and together with researchers affiliated with IAS PBL.
  • Develop new offerings : further develop existing activities and test new formats for university pedagogical competence development.
  • Drive the AI in education initiative: develop activities that translate knowledge about AI in teaching and learning into usable practice, including in relation to PBL.
  • Build and disseminate knowledge: collect, qualify and share experiences about pedagogical and didactic possibilities and challenges with AI across AAU.
  • Identify needs and foster collaboration: monitor developments in AAU’s educational environments, build relationships across the organization, and translate new needs into relevant activities.
  • Ensure quality and learning: contribute to evaluation, documentation, and ongoing quality assurance of IAS PBL ED’s activities.

All tasks will take place in close collaboration with researchers from IAS PBL.

Your qualifications

It is expected that you

  • have a relevant academic background and solid knowledge of university pedagogy, didactics, and teaching development
  • have experience in developing, facilitating, and evaluating teaching, courses, workshops, or longer-term competence development programs in a university context
  • can translate research, strategic goals, and organizational needs into concrete and usable activities
  • have experience in building collaborations across disciplinary and organizational environments and in clarifying the needs of different target groups
  • are a confident communicator and teacher in both Danish and English and thrive in an outward-facing daily work with many collaboration interfaces.

It is advantageous if you

  • have a PhD in a relevant field
  • have completed university pedagogy training or can document corresponding university pedagogical competencies and experiences
  • have experience with teaching at a university or another higher education institution
  • have experience with competence development and dissemination of AI in education
  • have knowledge of PBL and the conditions for teaching and educational development at a university.

About IAS PBL and IAS PBL Educational Development

IAS PBL is a cross-disciplinary unit at Aalborg University that works with research, development, and competence development within problem- and project-based learning, university pedagogy, and digitally supported teaching and learning.

IAS PBL contributes to developing and strengthening PBL as a central part of AAU’s pedagogical foundation and to creating coherence between research, university pedagogical competence development, and practice in the university’s educational environments.

IAS PBL ED is from November 2026 the new name for Learning Lab. The name change reflects a strengthening of the university pedagogical competence development area.
