Head of Pedagogy at Sødalskolen – lower primary and SFO

We are seeking an educational leader who is passionate about creating coherence and professional development in our primary school, after-school care (SFO) and reception classes. We are an important school for our local area, and we now seek a leader who can drive the pedagogical development and create the framework for our children to get the best possible start to their school life.

Sødalskolen is a diverse school, where you will be met with high professionalism and a sense of community in a daily life with active learning and movement. From the school year 2026/27, Sødalskolen is ESAA Kids-school. As the pedagogical leader you will help set the direction for how the new profile becomes a living part of the school's everyday life.

About Sødalskolen

Community is a core value at Sødalskolen. We are a smaller school with a strong sense of community among staff and pupils across year groups – and with an engaged school board.

We prioritize traditions that unite us, and insist on a close and trusting collaboration between school and home. We have about 220 students distributed across 1-2 streams from 0.-9. grade, including five reception classes in the early years (0.–3. grade) and about 40 staff members.

High professionalism is our shared ambition. We meet the students with high expectations and a belief that they can succeed. You will join a learning community where we share knowledge, develop practice together and have the courage to try new solutions. We see mistakes as an opportunity for learning and solve tasks in close sparring and collaboration.

ESAA Kids -school is our new profile from the school year 2026/27. Here movement and sport fill the school day even more, and we work for an active and varied school day, where movement supports learning, well-being and community. The profile is still under development, and you will therefore be part of the work to translate ESAA Kids into a clear and living part of the school's daily life.

About the job as pedagogical leader

As the pedagogical leader you will be part of the school's management team and responsible for the professional and pedagogical leadership of the primary school and our SFO. You will have personnel responsibility for 12 staff in the lower school and 7 pedagogical staff in the SFO.

The leadership of the SFO is an important part of the task. You must have an eye for the special qualities of leisure-time pedagogy and how play, relationships, communities and children's own initiatives contribute to children's well-being, development and participation opportunities.

We work from a clear child-centered view: Children always do their best. As the pedagogical leader you must be able to translate this child view into concrete pedagogical practice and help uphold it – even when the task becomes difficult.

You will be part of a leadership team where we share a common responsibility for the whole school and develop practice together. We work in a trusting manner, actively use each other for sparring and dare to be curious about and challenge each other's perspectives and our own leadership practice.

We approach the task with energy, curiosity and a fundamental belief that together we can make a difference. We have high ambitions for the children and the school and believe that good leadership is developed in a community.

You will be part of ‘the big community’ in Children and Youth, where we work within the common and binding framework of, among other things, Broader children's communities . You enter into close collaboration with the administration, including the pedagogical department, where we lift a common task.

About the leadership task

As the pedagogical leader you get a central role in the ongoing development of Sødalskolen. You must be close to the pedagogical practice and together with staff and the other leadership create strong frameworks for children's learning, well-being and participation in school and SFO.

You have an important task in

To lead the professional and pedagogical development: You must exercise clear professional leadership close to practice and help raise the school's professional ambitions. You must facilitate a professional learning culture where staff explore and develop practice together with a focus on, among other things, participation opportunities, language, relationships, play, learning, movement and variation.

To build bridges: You must create coherence between the primary school, SFO and reception classes, so children meet a common child view and common pedagogical ambitions. You must at the same time strengthen the collaboration with day care and develop new collaboration opportunities that create good and coherent transitions for the children.

To unite professional disciplines: You must create room for teachers and pedagogues to develop practice together, and that the different professional disciplines are actively brought into play and supplement each other around the children.

To develop the SFO: You must set the direction for the leisure-pedagogical practice and together with the staff translate the leisure-pedagogical vision into concrete practice. Here you should also have an eye for the opportunities in the school's green surroundings and for how they can be actively used in the children's leisure time.

To develop Sødalskolen together with others: You must together with the rest of the leadership team set the direction for the school's professional and pedagogical development and contribute to developing and anchoring the school's profile as ESAA Kids-school.

About your profile

You are a trained teacher or pedagogue and have experience from the school world. Maybe you have leadership experience or experience as a mentor or similar, and you have the desire and potential to pursue a leadership path. You have a leadership education or are ready to commence one.

If you have special education knowledge and experience, it is an advantage, but not a requirement. Likewise it is an advantage if you have knowledge of the primary school, SFO and reception classes.

Salary and employment

The position is a full-time role with no maximum working time. Salary and terms follow the applicable collective agreement and local pay agreement entered into with the negotiating trade union. The annual salary is about DKK 626,000. In addition, a qualification allowance is paid for completed diploma in leadership.

A child-care and criminal record check will be obtained.
