Dagtilbud Vest is seeking an educational leader who will lead the daily management of Æblehuset and Skovbørnehaven.

Here you will have the opportunity to be close to the pedagogical practice, create safe and clear frameworks for children and staff, and make your mark on two smaller kindergartens with their own special qualities. Dagtilbud Vest consists of nine kindergartens, two resource groups and an educational guidance team. The pedagogical work is anchored in the strengthened educational plan and Odder Municipality’s Children and Youth Policy. Our core task is to create play and learning communities where all children can thrive and develop. The common pedagogical foundation in Dagtilbud Vest consists of five building blocks: belonging, mastery, formation, curiosity and joy.

A strong leadership community You will become part of a committed leadership team with the day-care manager and eight pedagogical leaders. We work closely on operations and development across the day-care, and you will have the opportunity to influence both Æblehuset, Skovbørnehaven and the shared direction. You will receive a thorough introduction to the organization, procedures and IT systems, a leadership colleague as a mentor, and regular sparring with the day-care manager. The leadership team meets monthly, and in addition you will participate continuously in network groups with leadership colleagues.

Dagtilbud Vest is in motion: Two areas are being merged into one, and you therefore join at a time when there is room for new ideas and the opportunity to shape the shared culture. We work purposefully with psychological safety in the leadership team and emphasize that we can ask questions, share doubts and learn from each other. You report to an experienced day-care manager with an appreciative and trust-based leadership style. Here you will have backing, qualified sparring, presence and constructive interruptions – without unnecessary control.

About Æblehuset and Skovbørnehaven

Æblehuset has one kindergarten group and two toddler groups. In recent years, new staff have joined, and the house is in the process of implementing the common pedagogical foundation. As a new leader you will play a central role in developing a healthy collaborative culture and a clear pedagogical direction.

Skovbørnehaven Skovbørnehaven is located in a lovely forest area in Odder town and has 21 kindergarten children. A stable and well-functioning staff group organizes together with the daily leader an educational environment that largely unfolds under the tree canopies. The kindergarten also has a cozy house where children and adults gather in the morning, at noon and in the afternoon.

Common pedagogical practice In both kindergartens we emphasize close relationships with children, parents and colleagues. We work systematically with learning plan themes, high-quality play- and learning environments as well as action plans for children in vulnerable positions. Professionalism, respect and trust are key words, and we continuously develop practice together with focus on the core task. The strong collegial community and the positive atmosphere should make everyone feel welcome. We hold joint staff meetings and a pedagogical day.

Leadership task As an educational leader you will have autonomous responsibility for the daily operation and staff management in the two kindergartens. You must create direction and followers and lead the development of high-quality pedagogical play- and learning environments. At the same time, it will be your task to make Dagtilbud Vest’s shared values come alive in everyday life and to ensure that the shared direction can be felt in both practice and communication.

Leadership with us takes place close to children, staff and parents. You divide your time between leadership tasks and work in the child groups and have about 10 child hours per week in Æblehuset. Your visibility and accessibility should help create trust, professional sparring and a good working environment where staff experience clear support and know what is expected.

You also have an important role in creating overview and coherence in everyday life. This includes coordinating tasks, preparing meeting plans, ensuring stable operations and using resources in the best possible way. At the same time we expect you to actively bring your knowledge, competencies and ideas into play in the leadership team so that they benefit the whole day-care.

Your leadership profile We are looking for someone who can create a clear link between goals and pedagogical practice and keep the focus on communities where all children have the opportunity to participate. You lead close to everyday life and can move naturally between leading from the front, standing alongside and stepping back when staff themselves need to take responsibility.

As a leader you are relationally strong, present and listening. You involve others but are at the same time clear about direction and expectations. You communicate confidently both orally and in writing and see constructive parent collaboration as an important part of the core task. In the leadership team you are a loyal and active team player who can translate strategies and joint decisions into concrete practice and followership in the kindergartens.

You have an eye for both professional development and safe operations. This means you can implement and evaluate the strengthened pedagogical learning plan, the Children and Youth Policy, as well as national and municipal focus areas. You are familiar with IT systems and can use data to qualify the pedagogical and leadership development. You also thrive with a varied and complex task portfolio and can independently handle administrative and operational tasks in a smaller municipality where administrative support is limited.

We expect you to have a pedagogical educational background and solid experience from the 0-6-year area. You have either leadership experience or experience with coordinating tasks. If you already have a relevant leadership qualification, that is an advantage; otherwise you should be willing to complete one within a reasonable timeframe.

Salary and employment terms The position is to be filled on 1 January 2027. Salary and employment terms are set according to the applicable collective agreement with BUPL. The position is paid with a base salary at grade 46 plus allowances for experience, number of children units and leadership diploma education.
