About the job
Make a difference for children and young people – every morning
Do you want to make a difference for children and young people with complex functional impairments – and do you thrive being the one who creates a good and secure start to the day?
The Stjernen Children’s Houses, North Department, are seeking a permanent staff member for 15 hours per week.
The position is distributed Monday to Friday from 06:00 to 09:00.
This is an ideal position for you if, for example, you want a fixed part-time job, have daytime free, or would like to combine the job with education, other work or other activities.
With us you will be an important part of the children’s and youths’ morning routines. You help create calm, structure, presence and a good start to the day.
More than a morning job
At Børnehusene Stjernen, the work is about much more than practical tasks. It is primarily about creating security and meeting each child with calm, presence and care.
You will be an important part of the child’s or the young person’s start to the day, where with your presence and attention you support that the child or the young person has a good and secure morning. It requires you to get to know each child or young person, understand their needs and be able to read the small signs of wellbeing, insecurity or need for support.
As a staff member you will be a stable and recognizable adult whom the children and youths can rely on. And precisely those small moments where you create security, presence and good experiences contribute to making a big difference.
Who are we?
The Stjernen Daycare Houses are part of Handicap Center Funen in the Region of Southern Denmark.
We are a specialized residential facility for children and young people up to 25 years with multiple disabilities and extensive pedagogical and health care needs.
We work daily based on two simple ambitions, which are the foundation for all we do
- I am safe
- I can communicate
What will you be part of?
As a fixed morning staff member you become an important part of the daily practice and have a meaningful role in the transition from night to day.
You will, among other things, be
- creating presence and secure relationships
- supporting the children and the young in the morning routines
- helping with personal care and other daily needs
- supporting structure and predictability
- helping the children and the young people get ready for the day’s activities and offerings
- participating in activities and interaction based on each individual’s needs
- observing wellbeing and changes in the child’s or the young person’s condition
- documenting relevant observations in Nexus
- collaborating with educators, social- and health assistants, nurses, therapists and relatives.
You will become part of a multidisciplinary environment where we help each other and lift tasks together.
Who are you?
You do not need to be able to do everything from day one.
We are primarily looking for a person with the right personal competencies and the desire to make a difference.
You may be
- student
- pedagogue assistant
- social- and health helper or assistant
- or have experience from another area where you have worked with people.
The most important thing is that you want to learn and can see yourself in the work with children and young people with extensive support needs.
We expect that you
- meet people with respect, care and patience
- are present and attentive to the individual child’s needs
- can create calm and an overview – even when the morning doesn’t go exactly as planned
- work in a structured way and follow agreements and instructions
- take responsibility for your tasks
- thrive on collaborating with different professional groups
- contribute positively to the working environment
- want to develop your professional competences.
If you have experience from the special needs sector, that is an advantage, but not a requirement.
We ensure you get off to a good start
We know that a good introduction creates security – both for you and for the children and young people you will work with.
Therefore you will receive
- a structured introduction program
- thorough on-the-job training
- regular sparring partners
- ongoing feedback
- supervision
- opportunity for teaching and competence development.
Good employee benefits
- fixed working hours at 15 hours per week
- possibility for extra shifts by agreement
- staff association
- access to holiday homes through the Region of Southern Denmark’s Holiday Fund
