About the job

Would you like to help lead a strong department with skilled and dedicated staff?

The Department of Violent Crime is a professionally strong division that investigates some of the most serious and complex cases in the North Zealand Police. The department consists of four sections with specialized competencies and works both forward-looking and retrospective in its investigations.

The department works among other things with

  • Homicide, attempted homicide and arson
  • Sexual offense cases, robbery, violence, honor-related cases and psychological violence
  • Video interviewing of children
  • IT-related sexual offenses
  • IT crime and forensics

As a police commissioner you will be part of a strong leadership team and a professional environment with skilled, engaged and dedicated employees. You will have both personnel and professional leadership responsibility and will also be part of a larger leadership group where cross-collaboration is essential to succeed with the overall police mission.

A clear, modern and holistic leader

We are seeking a leader who is positive, relational and presence-oriented, and who builds trust, well-being and commitment. You should be clear in your leadership, able to set direction and at the same time give room for professionalism, initiative and new ideas.

You must be innovative and have the courage to challenge existing workflows when it can create better solutions. At the same time we expect you to lead with loyalty and integrity and have an eye for both the employees, the task and the organization as a whole.

You must be able to translate strategic priorities into concrete and meaningful goals and ensure that tasks are carried out efficiently, with high quality and in accordance with applicable law and established targets.

You must have strong analytical, communicative and collaborative skills as well as a strong understanding of the organization. You must be able to prioritize and make decisions – also when pace is high and tasks change quickly.

When it really matters

The department works with some of the most serious crimes in the police district. Therefore you must be able to maintain an overview and provide direction when the situation requires it.

You must, with short notice, be able to take on key functions during larger, unscheduled events and be able to handle both the urgent tasks and the long-term development tasks.

We expect you to

  • Have a police professional education and have completed Leadership Course 1 in accordance with the current requirements for police leaders.
  • Have leadership experience and preferably experience from several areas of the police.
  • Be positive, development-oriented and curious.
  • Be innovative and dare to think new.
  • Lead with loyalty, integrity and respect.
  • Be reflective, inclusive and relational.
  • Have strong analytical, communicative and collaborative competencies.
  • Have good organizational understanding and a natural holistic view.
  • Can create followership and translate strategy into concrete goals and results.
  • Can prioritize and make decisions under pressure.

You become part of something that matters

As a police commissioner in Violent Crime you will have the opportunity to lead a department with high professional standards, strong engagement and a shared focus on solving an important societal task.

You will become part of a strong leadership community and a environment with skilled and dedicated employees, where collaboration, development and responsible leadership are decisive.

We are looking for someone who will take responsibility, set direction and develop the organization – without losing sight of the people, the task and the common goal.

GENERAL ABOUT THE POSITION AS A POLICE COMMISSIONER

Responsibilities and reporting relationships are set locally at the level of “management of employees,” cf. the leadership framework. As a rule, you report to one of the line’s deputy chief inspectors.

You as a police commissioner are responsible for the police tasks in the police district within your area of responsibility, and you must ensure that the police tasks in your unit are carried out efficiently and in accordance with the applicable law and the set goals and result requirements for the police district.

You must, with a view to the whole organization, translate strategic priorities into meaningful goals for the employees you are responsible for. You must ensure that effective workflows are continually built, which deliver results of high quality on time, with a particular focus on society and the citizens.

You exercise your leadership through the employees in your unit.

You must be able to translate strategic initiatives into operative goals for your area of responsibility.

You must have strong analytical, collaborative and communication skills, as well as good organizational understanding.

Your leadership style must be development- and results-oriented with a holistic focus on task solving. You must be able to competently apply these competencies to create synergy within your unit and across the police district, and to work coherently with long-term goals.

In the selection process, the extent to which you meet the competence requirements for the employee leadership level in the leadership framework and the supplement on personal leadership qualities will be evaluated.

You may, in some cases, according to a concrete assessment, be appointed temporarily if you lack the pre-leadership trainings that are planned or can be scheduled to be completed within a year. A temporary appointment will normally last at most one year.

Salary and terms of employment

The position is to be filled on February 1, 2027 or as agreed.
