About the job

Do you want to help strengthen mental health, agency and communities among residents in disadvantaged housing areas? Then you have the opportunity to become the project manager of an exciting and meaningful health project in Slagelse Municipality, which is already well underway.

Prevention is seeking an engaged and relationship‑oriented project manager who will lead the project Health and Agency – Health Competence in Disadvantaged Neighbourhoods. The project is implemented in collaboration with FOB, Slagelse Boligselskab and Diabetesforeningen.

About the project

The project was launched in the summer of 2026, and there are already several initiatives underway as well as planned activities for spring 2027.

The aim of the project is to promote health equity by

  • strengthening residents' mental resources and agency
  • increasing participation in meaningful communities
  • building local capacity through health ambassadors and community hosts
  • contributing to creating engaging activities in the project's three selected housing areas.

The initiative builds on ABC for Mental Health – a framework for understanding to promote mental health and well‑being. As project manager you will be central in driving, coordinating and ensuring the continued development of the project in close collaboration with the housing organizations, residents, Diabetesforeningen and your colleagues in Prevention and Public Health.

Your tasks

You will be responsible for continuing the planning, implementation and follow‑up of the project's activities. This means, among other things, that you shall

  • contribute to the continued planning and implementation of training of health ambassadors and community hosts
  • set up and facilitate network meetings, coaching and supervision for health ambassadors and community hosts
  • support the health ambassadors in hosting workshops and local activities
  • contribute to creating health‑promoting frameworks in the neighbourhoods – e.g., communal meals, activity days and ABC workshops
  • build trusting relationships in the neighbourhoods and collaborate with resident councils, local actors and staff
  • coordinate across partners and actively participate in project groups and the steering committee
  • document, evaluate and report activities and results to the project's external evaluator and the Danish Health Authority
  • contribute to the project's dissemination and ongoing communication.

We are looking for someone who…

  • has a health professional background with a relevant academic postgraduate degree
  • has strong project management skills, ideally with experience from health promotion, mental health or local community projects
  • thrives in an outreach role and can build relationships across disciplines, cultures and organizations
  • has knowledge of – or willingness to work with – ABC for Mental Health
  • has good facilitation and communication skills
  • can work in a structured way with documentation, data and reporting
  • is independent, curious and good at turning ideas into concrete action
  • wants to work closely with citizens and create visible changes in their everyday lives.

We offer

An exciting and meaningful project with strong professional substance and partners. In your role as project manager you will have great influence, lots of responsibility and the opportunity to leave a lasting mark on the work with health promotion and prevention in local housing areas.

You will become part of a committed health area with room to grow and a focus on good collaboration.

Employment

The position is 37 hours per week with employment starting 1 January 2027.

The employment follows the project period, which is expected to end on 28 February 2029.

Part‑time employment can be agreed.

The employment is on collective agreement terms with salary according to qualifications.

Your primary workplace will be in Prevention, based in the Health House at Ingemannsvej 61 in Slagelse. However, you will have close collaboration with the Public Health Team, based at the Town Hall, and you are expected to spend a portion of your time on outreach and proactive work in the residential areas.

There is the possibility of remote work depending on your specific tasks. Slagelse Municipality has smoke‑free working hours.
