About the job

Join the largest center for eating disorders in Denmark.

With an employment at the Psychotherapeutic Outpatient Clinic for Eating Disorders, Psychiatric Center Ballerup, we offer you professional development and specialization within a specialty that is highly prioritized politically.

We are seeking a psychologist for a maternity leave cover who is passionate about psychotherapy and psychiatry, and who is interested in treating people with severe eating disorders and possibly psychiatric comorbidity.

About the position

You will be attached to the HSF team, which handles the highly specialized function for both the Capital Region of Denmark and the Region Zealand.

Our patients have severe anorexia or bulimia, often with long-standing illness and with a high degree of complexity and comorbidity. Since it takes time to recover from a severe eating disorder, our courses are correspondingly long, and we prioritize continuity in treatment.

About the outpatient clinic

In addition to 3 outpatient treatment teams in the outpatient clinic, the Center for Eating Disorders also consists of 1 day ward and 2 inpatient wards. We collaborate across these wards on referral, assessment, treatment and clinically oriented research.

Your daily life and daily tasks

All our patients are offered individually tailored treatment, arranged in a multi-track framework, where your multidisciplinary collaboration with doctor, nurse, dietitian and social worker is fundamental.

Our framework for understanding in psychotherapeutic work is fundamentally psychodynamic, as we attribute the relationship between patient and therapist a central importance for understanding the patient's difficulties and development possibilities. In the concrete treatment of eating disorder symptoms it is necessary to draw on methods from behavior-focused approaches such as CBT and DAT. We always adapt methods and approaches to the individual patient, which is a key quality in our treatment.

The treatment work with eating disorders will be your main focus. Due to the complexity of patient pathways, a prerequisite for your work with eating disorder symptoms will often also be to work with the significance of psychiatric comorbidity.

Your tasks will include

  • carrying out individual long-term psychotherapeutic courses
  • initial conversations (AOP) in collaboration with a specialist, possibly including diagnostic assessment and treatment plans
  • mapping eating disorder symptoms via EDE – semi-structured diagnostic interview
  • cross-sector collaboration around the individual patient pathways with municipalities and specialized residences on the rehabilitative effort
  • interdisciplinary coordination and collaboration in the team, as well as with day- and night wards when more intensive treatment is needed

We offer a strong psychological professional environment

With us you will become part of an engaged and professionally skilled colleague group, which also prioritizes creating frameworks for a good working environment and well-being.

In addition you will be attached to the overall psychology group at Psychiatric Center Ballerup with about 75 psychologists, where across the center you have the opportunity for ongoing sparring and exchange of experiences.

In a maternity leave position with us you will receive

  • training in eating disorders as a subspecialty
  • ongoing supervision
  • training and mentoring in collaboration with your competent and experienced colleagues as well as in close dialogue with the nearest supervisor based on your background and competencies.

Our wishes for you as a candidate are that you

  • are a trained psychologist, cand.psych.
  • have experience from psychology work in a psychiatric setting
  • have experience with- and/or interest in working with people who suffer from an eating disorder
  • prioritize multidisciplinary collaboration and professional quality highly
  • see meaning and purpose in working with the relationship as a central element in therapy, and can balance this with a focus on symptom behavior
  • have therapeutic experience, preferably with complex patient pathways
  • are curious, development-oriented and open

Experience with the target group is not a requirement, but you must be prepared to set and maintain demands for behavioral changes as a prerequisite for the psychotherapeutic treatment work.
