Social pedagogue

About the job

Are you passionate about relationship work and dementia – then you may be our new social pedagogue, who will use their social-pedagogical expertise up close with the residents.

You now have the opportunity to help shape a new dementia ward from the ground up and shape the pedagogical practice from the beginning.

Your role

In our dementia ward you play a very special and crucial role. Your pedagogical expertise and ability to see the resident beyond the disease help create a shared understanding of behavior, needs and life history.

We believe that the pedagogical approach is a key factor in the work of creating security, well-being and quality of life for our residents.

Your tasks will include

  • To participate in caring for residents, and to work purposefully with relationships, security and well-being
  • Contribute to an individual and person-centered approach to the residents
  • Prepare and follow up on social-pedagogical action plans
  • Collaborate closely with relatives about each resident’s life situation

You will be the only pedagogue on the department, but we work towards more cross-functional collaboration with the other pedagogues in the activity team and on our sister department, Torndalshave, which also has a dementia specialty. As it is important for us that professional sparring also happens between our own professional groups.

With us you will get

  • Opportunity to shape and build a new ward from the ground up
  • A central role with professional influence
  • A working environment focused on well-being, collaboration and development
  • We care about your professional development, and we have, among other things, a: 5-day dementia course, dementia advisor training and courses in use of force and gentle emergency response

It is important to us that you get off to a good start. Therefore you will be attached to a fixed colleague from our buddy corps, who supports you in your onboarding and helps you settle into both the tasks, the community and everyday life at Dybenskærhave.

Who are you?

We imagine that you, for example, are trained as a social pedagogue or have an equivalent education, preferably with an interest in or experience with dementia, but the competencies can also be obtained through other education, relevant experience or a combination of these. The crucial thing is your overall qualifications in relation to the position.

The team and everyday life

In our dementia ward there are 12 residents. You will become part of a committed and multidisciplinary team, where reflection, professional sparring and shared learning are a natural part of our daily life on the ward. You will work closely with your ward manager Jeanette, who is passionate about the dementia field.

We work from person-centered care (Tom Kitwood) and actively use social-pedagogical approaches in daily life, among other things through resident conferences. We have triage and ongoing professional dialogues, where we work purposefully to develop the interventions around the individual resident. We will together develop a concept for fixed supervision and use of debriefing.

A meaningful daily life on the dementia ward.

On the dementia ward you will encounter a daily life characterized by high professionalism, presence and care. Our multidisciplinary collaboration in the team between social and health care assistants, social and health helpers and nurses creates a strong professional foundation, where we reflect together, share knowledge and develop our practice.

The pace is calm, and we prioritize the small activities that make a big difference in daily life. It could be a walk, a cozy conversation, music, creative activities or participation in everyday tasks.

We believe that joy is contagious. With us, a positive mood, smiles and good experiences are a natural part of daily life. Together we create an environment where residents, relatives and staff experience community, well-being and quality of life.

When you send your application, please describe how you can bring your competencies into the team, what motivates you in your work and which tasks give you energy.

Working hours

Working hours are from 07:00 to 15:30, other shifts by arrangement. In addition, weekend shifts occur every 4th weekend.
