Roskilde Diocese seeks a cemetery consultant

The Roskilde Diocese is seeking a cemetery consultant with start on 1 January 2027. The position is fixed-term for 4 years and expires on 31 December 2030.

The position is a secondary occupation.

Profile

We expect you to be educated as a landscape architect from the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences for Foods, Veterinary Medicine and Natural Resources, the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture, Aarhus School of Architecture or have an equivalent approved foreign education.

Tasks

The tasks involve providing advice and guidance to the diocese, deanery or parish councils on the Church of Denmark's cemeteries and surrounding areas, including among other things:

• Establishment and expansion of cemeteries.
• Layout of cemeteries including operational management, development and preservation planning.
• Demolition, expansion, reconstruction or construction of buildings on cemeteries, with a focus on sustainable solutions, energy optimization and environmental considerations.
• Construction, expansion and external renovation or sale of the church's cemetery-adjacent buildings.
• Working environment for cemetery staff.
• Classification of cemeteries as irreplaceable
• Advice concerning questions about trees and other planting on and around cemeteries

As a cemetery consultant you must, upon request, provide statements in cases relating to the above.

You will also provide advice and guidance to parish councils and cemetery boards upon request.

The cemetery consultant also participates in the diocese's consultant rounds, where we, among other things, visit cemeteries in the diocese where a parish council has wishes or plans for a project. At the consultant rounds the project is discussed with the parish council, and the cemetery consultant applies his/her expertise together with the diocese's other consultants. Approximately 4 consultant rounds are held per year.

As a cemetery consultant you act as an adviser to the church authorities according to the rules in:

It is important to note that, as a cemetery consultant, you may not undertake design tasks for parish councils within the diocese you are employed by, unless the diocese exceptionally approves it.

Remuneration

The remuneration as of 1 January 2026

• Advisory cases pursuant to § 8 in Circular No. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instruction for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,236 DKK per hour.
• Statement cases pursuant to § 7, sec. 1, in Circular No. 9779 of 6 October 2009 on the common instruction for the Church of Denmark's consultants: 1,854 kr.pr . per statement.

The remuneration is supplemented by a holiday allowance of 12.5%, and value-added tax should not be added.

Rates are adjusted annually on 1 January.
