About the job
Would you like to work at the intersection of the Defence, industry and the research world – and help translate new ideas into concrete solutions?
At the Defence Drone Centre in Odense we are looking for a dedicated case handler for the coordination element, who will help strengthen the collaboration between the Defence, Danish companies and research environments in a strong Triple Helix collaboration.
Drones are playing an increasingly important role in modern conflicts, and development is rapid. Therefore the Defence Drone Centre works purposefully to collect experiences, develop new solutions and educate the operators of tomorrow – so the Defence can make effective use of the technology in all domains.
About us
Drones are one of the major technological breakthroughs that have had decisive importance in recent conflicts in Ukraine and Israel, among others. Drones have the potential to fundamentally change warfare in all domains. The implementation of drone technology is therefore decisive for success on the battlefield.
The Defence Drone Centre is a new joint defense unit whose aim among others is to drive learning from experience, development and training and thereby bring drone technology into all domains of the Defence.
The centre will also ensure strengthened dialogue with industry, civilian educational institutions and international partners and establish its own conscripts who are trained to operate a range of different drone systems.
As part of the Defence Drone Centre you will help develop and coordinate cooperation with both national and international partners and contribute to turning new knowledge and technology into concrete capabilities in the Defence.
We place a high value on work-life balance and can offer an attractive solution for you with opportunities for occasional remote work.
About the position
As a case handler in the coordination element you will play a central role in connecting the Defence with the civilian innovation environment and translate collaboration into concrete development.
The coordination element functions as the entry to the Defence Drone Centre for collaboration with industry, startups and research environments. Here you work to develop and coordinate collaborations that support the Defence's use of drones and autonomous systems – with a focus on translating technology and knowledge into operational effect.
The position is located at the intersection of operational needs, technology and collaboration. You will contribute to building and strengthening the ecosystem around drone technology and automation through close dialogue and cooperation with both internal and external actors – nationally and internationally.
Your main tasks will be
- Coordinate and plan development activities in cooperation with the Defence's units and external partners
- Contribution to translating collaboration with industry, startups and research environments into concrete development and testing activities
- Participate in innovation processes, sprints, etc.
- Support knowledge sharing, experience gathering and advising within drones, autonomous systems and related technologies
- Participate in staff work and planning of training and exercise activities
About you
We are looking for an independent, structured and development-oriented employee who has ambitions to contribute to the Defence's technological development and future operational capabilities.
You are motivated by working at the intersection of the Defence, industry and academia, where you help connect operational needs with technological possibilities and translate collaborations into concrete solutions. You see yourself as an important part of the link that creates coherence between the actors and strengthens the Defence Drone Centre as an attractive and credible sparring partner in the Defence.
You have an eye for future opportunities and challenges and can work with a 3–5-year development perspective, where technological trends and new solutions are assessed in relation to the Defence's future needs.
You understand the importance of development and innovation taking as its starting point operational problem formulations and requirements from the armed forces and commands. You can contribute to qualifying and coordinating solutions so that they are relevant, usable and create a basis for operational effect.
You thrive in an organization in formation, where independence, initiative and collaboration are crucial to creating momentum. You work in a structured way and take responsibility for following up tasks and collaborations from idea to documented recommendations and decision basis.
You have relevant experience with development, innovation, project management or collaboration across organizations. Knowledge of drones, autonomous systems, artificial intelligence or other new technologies is an advantage but not a prerequisite.
We especially emphasize that you
- Can contribute to developing FDC as an attractive and credible sparring partner for the Defence's services and commands.
- Can connect the Defence's operational needs with industry's technological possibilities and academia's knowledge through strong collaboration relationships.
- Understand how operational problem formulations and requirements can be translated into targeted development and innovation activities.
- Can think ahead in a 3–5-year perspective and identify technological opportunities that can give the Defence an innovative lead.
- Work independently, structured and proactive and create momentum in complex collaborations and tasks.
- Can translate ideas and development initiatives into concrete activities, documented results and decision basis.
- Have strong communicative and social skills and be able to build trust across disciplines, organizations and partners.
- Understand the importance of clear mandates, organizational framework and close cooperation with relevant authorities and actors.
Motivated by strengthening the Defence's combat power through innovation, technological development and future capacity building
