About the job

Would you like to make a positive difference and work with children whose parents have sought help with cases such as custody, residence and/or visitation? Are you interested in mediation and conflict management between parents in collaboration with the legal system? And do you want to work to ensure that children's voices are heard and understood in the process? Then read on!

We are seeking child-proficient social workers, family facilitators or similar for a newly established team in Aabenraa, to help families across the country.

Support for separated families – child-proficient guidance, conflict management and mediation

At the Family Offices, we help separated families strengthen parental cooperation regarding the child through a mentalizing and conflict-handling approach, where the child’s well-being is central. Our tasks include meetings with parents and children about custody, residence and visitation, as well as making decisions.

We focus on conflict management, mediation between parents and the individual challenges in each family to ensure the best solutions for the child. The goal is to support the child’s well-being by helping the parents find joint solutions to benefit their child and reduce the level of conflict.

Your tasks will include

  • holding virtual meetings with parents who disagree about their children's circumstances
  • holding conversations with children to incorporate their perspective
  • monitoring visitation between child and parent
  • advising and guiding parents in cooperation problems and disagreements about visitation, custody, the child’s residence, etc.
  • working in a conflict-handling and mentalizing way with parents

The team is responsible for case processing from start to finish

We work in self-managing teams that are composed across disciplines of lawyers, child-expert advisors and administrative staff. The multidisciplinary team plans the course of each case based on the specific family’s needs and with a focus on the child’s best. The team bears a joint responsibility for the cases from start to finish. Therefore, it is important that you are good at collaboration and eager to work cross-disciplinary and be a good sparring partner for your colleagues with whom you work closely.

Based on lean principles we work to improve our case processes and workflows. The goal is to ensure professionally relevant processes where the child’s best interests and well-being come first, and case handling is arranged so that families do not experience unnecessary waiting times. We value your input and involve you in improving our processes and workflows. Therefore, your contribution has a direct impact on both the office’s operations and your team’s development.

Qualifications

We expect that you have a relevant background as a social worker, cand.psych., cand.pæd., or are an experienced educator with relevant continuing education and professional experience. To thrive in the role we expect you to:

  • Be good at communicating at eye level, able to handle conflicts and ensure the child-technical perspective in the meeting with parents.
  • Have a flair for administrative tasks and authority tasks, and be sharp in written communication.
  • Be able to collaborate in a team with openness and constructiveness and build strong relationships with colleagues.
  • Be willing to take responsibility for each single case and for the team’s overall course together with the rest of your team.
