About the job

Do you want to help secure the Defence's operational communication infrastructure?

It is irrelevant how strong a lock is if the keys aren’t managed. The same goes for cryptographic keys. Would you like to help ensure high quality and efficient key management in the Kingdom of Denmark and be motivated by complex tasks where you convey difficult messages clearly and precisely and require effective and qualitative solutions?

If you desire a strong professional community, with complex tasks and common solutions, this might be you we are looking for. We are seeking an engaged and analytically strong case officer.

About the position

You will be employed as a technical case officer in the unit Defence Joint Information Systems and Security, which is located in the Defence Materiel and Procurement Agency’s Materiel Staff. Here you will primarily work with maintenance and support of the Defence's Electronic Key Management System (EKMS). A system used to produce cryptographic keys.

One of your core tasks is to ensure that the EKMS solution operates stably and supports the user’s needs; technically as well as operationally – in other words, you will have system responsibility. As the system owner you will be the primary contributor to an upgrade project that will secure the EKMS solution into the future. The task requires the ability to coordinate and facilitate collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders, including the ability to build support and enthusiasm around the task solution.

Your second core task, in collaboration with colleagues, will be to support work on Defence's other cryptographic solutions. Here you will assist with contract negotiations, procurement and disposal of materiel, administration and maintenance of cryptographic materiel from national and international suppliers.

In short, as a technical case officer you will have responsibility for your own portfolio of cases. Your tasks will include, among others:

  • Independent case handling and system responsibility, with responsibility for the chosen solutions’ life cycle in the Defence; from cradle to grave.
  • Responsibility for coordinating the task solution, in collaboration with other internal sections and external stakeholders.
  • Analysis, interpretation and implementation of a complex governance framework and practice.
  • Written and oral communication to Defence’s internal as well as external customers, suppliers and collaborators.
  • Participation in professional development and optimization of our internal workflows.

There will be ongoing opportunities to adjust your tasks to fit your interests and ambitions.

About us

The Defence Material and Procurement Agency’s Materiel Staff provides the necessary materiel and IT to the Defence and emergency response operational units. The Materiel Staff consists of five underlying divisions: three capability-focused divisions (land, air and maritime), the Sourcing Division and the Supply Chain Division.

In Defence Joint Information Systems and Security, we are responsible for the Defence cryptographic materiel on a daily basis, which ensures communication between relevant units and systems, and ensures that information can be shared securely and correctly in peace, crisis and war. We also oversee shielded solutions for operational units and certain Danish authorities.

We are also responsible for a number of information systems within Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance. In other words, you will play an active role in a security-critical function for the central operational IT and communications solutions that are essential for the Danish Defence and other state/public authorities.

In Defence Joint Information Systems we currently are a diverse group of eight employees with different educational backgrounds and areas of expertise. With us, professional expertise leads our task execution. We value professional sparring and further development within relevant areas in the team. You will not be alone with your tasks.

About you

We are looking for a technically well-founded, curious and solution-seeking person. Your education could advantageously be in IT, civil engineering, project management/coordinator, but your education is not the most important thing, as we in this position want an independent, skilled problem-solver who is motivated to learn, understand and solve complex challenges.

We do not expect you to be an expert in cryptography from day one, as you will receive a thorough introduction to your tasks and work areas during your onboarding. The most important for us is that you are curious about technology and able to understand diverse technical problem areas in both hardware and software.

To be successful in the role you should

  • have a solid foundation in IT, networking or electrical engineering, which enables you to quickly grasp the various technical areas.
  • be able to use your knowledge to engage in dialogue about solution models with the technical specialists and ensure that the right knowledge reaches the right people, e.g., when you are in meetings or out in the field.

In addition, we place value on that you

  • are analytically strong and able to quickly understand complex issues
  • can express yourself clearly in Danish and English – both in writing and speaking
  • work in a structured way and keep an overview, even when there are many cases on your desk
  • are a good team player who contributes positively to the social and professional work environment

You will work in a large public and politically governed organization. It will be beneficial if you have experience from/with public administration, experience from a public agency or another large organization, but this is not a requirement.

As a person you work in a structured and independent way and are driven by a natural curiosity for technology. You must be service-minded and detail-oriented and able to use your attributes to ensure progress and coordination in the projects you are involved in.

We work closely with the operational units. Experience in the Defence is an advantage but not a requirement.

Employment terms

If you are an academic, you will be employed in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Ministry of Finance and a number of academic organisations for academics in the state (Academic Collective Agreement).

If you have an office training or another relevant education, you will be employed under the current General Collective Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and Public Employees Organizations – The State Sector (OAO-S General Agreement) and the organizational agreement for office clerks, laboratory technicians and IT employees.

Depending on your qualifications and competencies, there is a possibility of negotiating allowances. The position is tied to an employer-funded pension scheme.

The workplace is in Ballerup

As an employee within the Ministry of Defence, you are subject to certain special conditions. You must, among other things, be security cleared and maintain the security clearances throughout the employment.

You, as an employee, must be willing to perform service outside the country’s borders, including at units in international operations with a view to participating in conflict prevention, peacekeeping, peacebuilding, humanitarian and other similar operations.

Contact and application

If you want to hear more about the position, you are welcome to contact the Defence Materials and Procurement Agency at telephone 7281 4000.

If you have questions about salary and employment terms, you are welcome to contact HR consultant at the Personnel Command, Mia Backhausen, on telephone 3266 5574.

The application deadline is 1 December 2026, and we expect to hold interviews on an ongoing basis. The position is to be filled as soon as possible.

You apply for the position via the link and we ask you to attach your application, CV and copies of your educational certificates. Note that attachments must be added in PDF format.

In the Defence Ministry’s organisation we believe that diversity optimizes task solving. Therefore we encourage all interested regardless of background to apply for the position.
